Two definitions of extravagant are:
1. Exceeding the bounds of reason, as actions, demands, opinions, or passions.
2. Going beyond what is deserved or justifiable.The first one made me smile, wondering why He did what He did. It's beyond reason, any understandable reason - that God would do love us so much. It's so WEIRD but so GREAT! This world is good for NOTHING but we can still be STRONG in Him!
the lyrics say "Spread wide, in the arms of Christ, is the love that covers sin. No greater love have I ever known!" I had never known such love until I met Christ at the altar... and we'll never know why that joy helps us get up from our knees in desperation and shout 'thank You God!' even as the tears stream down our faces.
The second one made me humbly whisper thank you. we didn't deserve this. we DON'T deserve this. i don't know how many times i have to say it. What God is that great that He gives us what we don't deserve and does it CHEERFULLY and with A SMILE ON HIS FACE! What God would cry for the undeserving? THE ONLY GOD! The God of the Holy Bible, that's what God. My God.. your God... our God. THE God. His love is extravagant, undeserved ... It is SO uplifting to know that when the world or my family looks down on me for mistakes, or just because i'm me, that I have a God who forgives, forgets, then washes away and helps me change it. He doesn't shun me or love me any less. He just cares for me and tells me 'Let's try this again, Monica. You and me."
