Wow, this is my very first blog, ever! Now I really am on the cutting edge of technology. Oh wait a minute. It's gone. Too late. Technology keeps changing. Perhaps tomorrow I will be on the leading edge again.
I just recently moved from Toledo, OH to Mishawaka, IN and I am just getting settled in. Mishawaka is not horribly far from Toledo (about 2.5 hours) but, it's far enough that I feel I have left some very good friends behind. I'm going to miss Aldersgate UMC.
During the course of packing and unpacking all of my belongings I found some treasures from my past. Treasures from the mid 1980's when I was part of a powerhouse trio rock band. Two things of note that I found were pictures of band members I have not seen for many, many years and two cassette tapes of the band playing some great music. I converted the tapes into CD format. I felt so blessed that the tapes were still functional.
My time in the band (we were called Tantara) was a remarkable time in my life. We were all college guys who were all interested in the same type of progressive rock music. I was part of a group that was doing something kinda cool. Up to that point I had never really been part of anything, not even in High School. I had a really great sense of belonging. It was fun. It was the most rewarding thing that I had ever been part of in my life until I came to know Jesus.
After responding to an alter call and dedicating my life to Jesus, I have found purpose and it is rewarding me everyday.
I have uploaded a picture of me with guitarist Greg Feltner. The bass guitar that I'm playing is a Rickenbacker 4003. I loved that bass and I wish I still had it. I would like to share some of the music that was on the tapes but I'm not sure how to make that happen.
It's fun to remember the past but I need to move on to the future. There can be progressive Christian Rock.
