I've spent all day, thinking about the 6 year old boy who's body was found on Wednesday, after being buried alive, in a sump hole. The story is sad, and tragic enough, as it is. But, what really hits home, for me, is that I knew this boy. His family were my neighbors, last year. My daughter had made friends with his older sister, at school. Yet, there was rarely a day that went by that Zane wasn't on my doorstep, wanting to know if my daughter could come out and play. Although, my daughter was older than Zane, she enjoyed hanging out with him, as they shared a love of animals... and were always trying to "save them all." Don't mis-understand me... I'm not implicating that I knew Zane and his family well. I had only visited with his mother once or twice, although my daughter spent quite a bit of time back and forth at their house, during the day. And, we haven't lived by them for nearly 7 months now... But, all I can think of is his little face, at my door asking me, "Can Haley come out and play?" And it just breaks my heart into pieces. The one comfort I have in this, is that I know that he is safe with Jesus. I pray for his family that the Lord will bring them comfort and peace, during this time of sadness. I can only imagine what they are going through.

Before I say anything, I want to thank everyone, again, for all their prayers for my nephew. And, I want to apologize for not updating more frequently on his condition, over the last month. Jake is doing *wonderful* praise God! As a matter of fact, he was the ring bearer, at my wedding, and during the reception, he was dancing all over the place! Jacob is doing so much better than we expected, God has done so much for him, and our family. I'll put some pictures of him, on here, very soon, k? Once again, guys, I'm sorry for the lack of posts. -Nikki

Hey, friends! I've been back for a little over a week, but I've been a busy girl. I got married on Tuesday, the 12th. *happy dance of joy*, and was gone for a few days. Since coming home, I've either been working, or running. At least, that's what it feels like. But, I'm very blessed. The marriage, itself, was held at the courthouse. But, we did have a nice reception, later that evening, which was beautiful. The funny thing is that he and I had not planned to have one. Chris and I were going to just say our vows, and skip town for a little while... But, my sister and a few others had other plans! *hehe* I love my family. The turn-out was nice, and God must have had a hand in it, because we only had a week to plan what most people take months to put together and it still went on without a hitch. We did still manage to take off for a couple of days. We stayed at the Queen Mary, ate out, went to an aquarium, and hopped a boat for a whale watch tour. We followed two grey whales. They were absolutely gorgeous. ... Then I got seasick. That wasn't as pretty. But, I wouldn't trade that day for the world, because I have always wanted to do something like that. If anyone wants to say hello to my new hubby, he's on the top of my friends list axman42076. Other than that, nothing new to report, except that the two of us are house hunting. Sorry that I have been out of the loop. I hope everyone has been doing well. God Bless! Ooh, PS... Chris doesn't like himself in this picture, but I had too much fun playing with photo-brush NOT to put it up, so, here's a piccie!

Just a quick note, this time. The doctors decided to keep Jacob for an extra couple of days, to err on the side of safety, so, Lord willing, he will be able to come home tomorrow. :)

I know, weird question considering the kind of blogs I have been posting, lately. But, it is sort of related. Angie and her five boys are staying with Angies paren'ts. So, it's a full house, without saying. But, kids will be kids, and dogs will be dogs, and the family has accumulated quite a few pets over the last few years. One stray here, another stray there, and so on, and so on. Unfortunately, there are a few too many. Under the current circumstances, it's in everyone's best interest, including the animals', for some of them to find new homes. So, I'm posting to see if anyone might be interested in adopting them. They don't have to all go together, in fact, one of them would be best to go without the other two. We are looking for homes for Riley, Lucy and Pupito. Riley is a mixed breed dog. She's about 2 years old and is black with brindle markings. I'm not really sure what breed she is, because she has a build quite similar to a greyhound, but her face reminds me of small lab. Riley needs to go to a one person home. She can be very affectionate, but is nervous around new people, and is not good with little kids, at all. That makes her the "problem child" of the bunch. We don't want to take her to the pound, because we are afraid that she'll be put down. But, living with so many other dogs, and in a home where there are so many people isn't good for her. She needs to be somewhere where she has stability and can be loved. Lucy is a dachshund mix. For those of you who aren't sure, Yep. She's a weiner dog. She's not a purebred, that's for sure, but there's no mistaking that she's a doxie. She's blond in color and is very happy and playful. She's about one year old. And, last but not least, Pupito is her son. He's still a puppy, about half the size of his mother and is black and white all over. He likes everybody and is also really playful. But, he does scare easily. Let something fall over and he will squeal and run, until he sees that everything is okay. *L* Anyway, that's all for now. If anyone is interested, please let me know. It will be a lot easier for Jacob to get around on his crutches without having to deal with the dogs running around. I can probably get some pictures and put them online, as well. Thanks. :)
