I found this and felt I should share it for those of you who, like me sometimes struggle with being a good friend. Maybe at times we call ourselves friends when we are really just aquaintances that are there only when we need something from somone.
I pray that the latter is not me, I hope my friends know how truly blessed I am by having them in my life and I also pray they can feel the same way about me!
"What does the Bible say about friendship? By Pastor Chuck Lovelady I will start by describing what friendship is not. Friendship is not using someone to get what you want. If you only hear from somebody when they want something, they are an acquaintance, not a friend. Genuine friendship is not mutual encouragement to do the wrong thing. It is not promoting codependence or any other unhealthy behavior. Let’s look at what the Bible says about friendship in the book of Proverbs. Proverbs 27:6, “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” A friend will tell you the truth and confront you even if it hurts, because he or she wants what is ultimately best for you. I have a few friends who will tell me when they think I am wrong and they are very valuable to me. When you don’t share your concerns about someone’s direction because of fear of offending them you aren’t being a friend.
A couple years ago a relative told me that her friend was making a terrible mistake by marrying this certain man. I asked her if she had expressed her concern to her friend. She said she hadn’t because she did not want to hurt their friendship or her feelings. Unfortunately, her friend is now going through a messy divorce after a short disastrous marriage.
Proverbs 17:9, “He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.” A friend loves and accepts you and does not gossip about your private matters. The thoughts and feedback from people who love you are very helpful. The ability to feel completely secure in a relationship is a marvelous gift to give and to receive.
Proverbs 18:24, “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” The first part of this verse describes the danger of too many indiscriminate relationships. The second part describes the value of a true friend. When my father passed away last fall I made several trips in the following months to Portland to settle his affairs. The presence of an old friend at key moments made a difficult job a little easier.
Last year I attended my niece’s high school graduation party. She had a book for people to write notes to her as she faces adult life and starting college. In this book I wrote, “A true friend is someone who wants what is best for you. Seek to have those kinds of friends and seek to be that kind of friend to other people.” "

UPDATE*** PLEASE continue to lift my Mom in prayer, I just spoke with her again and she is having a lot of pain and other issues now. As far as I know she did not have a stroke, but had the symptoms of one, they are still not sure what exactly happened to her at this point... She is still at the hospital and once again I say, it is completely in God's hands, so please just continue to lift her up in prayer! Thanks and God Bless! (Sunday 05/25/08 - 11:10 PM)
UPDATE*** PLEASE Lift my Mom in prayer, I just got a message that she may be having a stroke right now. She is at the hospital and now it is completely in God's hands, so please lift her up in prayer! (Thursday 05/22/08 - 8:39 PM)
My mother has been through some rough times lately... She is currently in the hospital recovering from extensive knee surgery on both knees. While there and recovering she experienced some kind of seizure and her blood became so thin they have decided to keep her at the hospital.
Please pray with me now...
Father, today I come to you humbled and submitted to your name. I thank you Lord for all you have given me in my life and all that you have blessed my family with. Today Father I pray that you would send down angels to be with my mother, God I pray that you would calm her mind and open her heart to you Lord. Allow her to receive your healing touch in this time of need. Father blanket her with your love and protection at this time God and just allow her to know you and to accept Jesus Christ with an open and willing heart.
I ask these things in Jesus precious and holy name Father Amen

**UPDATE 05-22-08** Good afternoon everyone!! I have a praise report to share regarding my job situation! I interviewed on Tuesday of this week with a local mechanical/automation engineering company. This is a company that provides automation to many of the large Vegas shows as well as many major motion picture studios. The interview went well and I was asked to come back for a second interview today at 11:00am. The second interview went as well or better than the first and I was told to expect an offer letter by tomorrow!
God is SO Amazing! This job is much better than what I was expecting and is the kind of job I have been looking for my entire career! PRAISE GOD for giving me this opportunity and I promise to do my best to share HIS Word with all those I come in contact with because of this opportunity! God opens doors that no-one else could open and he always blesses the faithful who seek HIM first!
So once again thanks to all of you for your prayers and encouragement! They helped keep me focused on HIM so that I didn't get caught up in what I thought I wanted... and once again, FIRST and FOREMOST Praise GOD for providing for us everything we will ever need!!
God Bless! Jeffro! :o)
++++++++==============++++++++++=============+++++++++++=========== I am in need of a job as soon as possible. God brought me to Vegas and I have been praying about and looking for a job since I got here a couple months ago.My unemployment is quickly running out and I am going to need a job in the next couple weeks!
The prospects are there but I am not getting call backs. This is a new issue as I have always been very blessed to have offers very soon after listing my resume... God will provide I am sure, but like pastor Ron says you can pray about God providing you with a job, but you still have to get out there, find available jobs and apply!
So if you know of any jobs in Las Vegas in my field, PLEASE let me know!
My industry is Civil Engineering, Landscape design, or Architectural Engineering design.
I have several years of experience in IT and CAD management as well as several years of experience in Civil residential and commercial design and Architectural drafting and design. I have done consulting for a number of Civil design firms and Architectural firms, so working from home or telecommuting is also a possibility.
Thanks for the help! GOD BLESS! Jeff Anderson

Another prayer request for my VBF Family...
This morning, I read my Mom's blog and now wanted to ask all my friends here to pray for my family. You can read her blog and comment on it here if you wish (http://www.mychurch.org/blog/145819/Prayer-request).
My son was recently ill and as you may already know, is doing much better. However my mom (Marianne) and my brother (Jimmy) are now having some health issues. I am not sure if my mom has ever given her life to Christ, and I know my brother has not. I have been praying that both of them, along with my dad will one day come to know The Lord. So along with a prayer of healing, would you please join with me in prayer for their salvation? A prayer that they may open their hearts and begin a walk with God, that they begin a real relationship with Jesus Christ?
Thanks in advance and God Bless! Jeff A.
