...if you are not checking the Word of God, the Holy Bible, to make sure what you are being taught by others is true you are leaving yourself open to BIG trouble. Are you closing your eyes, willingly? Search the Scriptures (Acts 17:11). Please Christians. God warns us clearly of the deceit, with good reason. He warns us clearly to test every spirit (1John 4:1, Matt. 24:4-5, Matt. 7:15-17). Whether you have seen it yet or not there is a battle ensuing. We already know who has the victory. But we are called to participate (Ephes. 6:11-20).
Put on your whole armor of God. There is no motive to this warning other than the love of Christ Jesus and His body.
If you are really doing your homework you will also being reading the surrounding Scripture to the references sited here.

A CROSS AMIDST THE IDOLS
We were at the City of Refuge on the Big Island of Hawaii, better known as Pu uhonua o Honaunau. It's beautiful there! However, the park is swamped with idols and idol worship, including the worship of Pele (the volcano goddess). Besides its beauty the park offers lots of historic information but harbors so many of these idols which, of course, only further promotes the idolatry among the people including the visitors...
So, during our visit we put the Way of the Master gospel coins in the crevices of the lava for tourists to find (that silver sparkles nicely against the black lava so people can see them to pick them up). When we went snorkeling we dropped the coins into the sand for the divers to find! Fun! Sitting on the lava, next to the ocean, we prayed for the hearts of all those who visit the park to be prepared to know Jesus instead of believing the lies. After we prayed for the people, we made this cross out of coral and shells further out on the lava where it would stand out and be easy to see.
On the way out of the park we left the million dollar bill gospel tracts in the rest rooms and shared the gospel in the parking lot where the Lord put in our path (and allowed us to fellowship a bit with) one brother I've been praying a long time for but had never personally met...a Chaplin in the military (they are on my prayer list since they are the ones responsible for getting the truth to our military men and women). What an awesome day at the park! God is soooooo good! Amen?!

Of humble, Royal birth He came. This One Who always was.
Needing nothing. Yet always searching for the love that He bestows.
And one day soon we'll raise our voice before Immanuel's throne, with throngs of those who've gone before to our celestial home.
We'll raise our anthems loud and clear in praise of Jesus Christ.
And all the universe will know, and bow..... to the King of kings and LORD of lords.

To Know Jesus We Must Know the Word
If we are to grow in a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ we must read and study His Word. We must check the teachings of man with the Holy Bible in order to discern truth from untruth. This is crucial because we WILL be presented with untruths. The Bible tells us what we need to know including how we will know the difference between truth and untruth (Matthew 7:15-16, just one reference). We know that God gives us the Holy Spirit for direction, yes? But we also know there is an enemy awaiting a chance to misdirect us, yes? Please, put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11). God has left us His inerrant Word to help us know which voice is the truth. We may hear many voices, only ONE is true. Simply put, if we don't read His Word we will be in the dark to God given direction which can mean the difference between having an authentic relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ or not having a real relationship with Him at all, a difference between knowing truth or falling prey to a lie, and potentially between having eternal life or having eternal condemnation. As the end days grow nearer may the body of Christ heed to nothing but His truth.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every work.
Revelation 19:13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. (all references taken from the NKJV)
I encourage everyone to read for themselves the Word of God and to pray for God's discernment of His Word when doing it. I am not suggesting that verses be removed from their surrounding text. In fact, when studying, it is important that we consider the full context to gain a thorough understanding of its intent. I note the particular verses above, individually, to help illustrate the need to read the entire Holy Bible, to use it for our lamp. In order to know God in all His Glory we must know Him well, in order to do that, in truth, we must know Him, Jesus, The Word.
Blessings and Love to all, Rhonda

Father, It is my prayer to You for all my brothers and sisters in Christ that You may fill them with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;that they may walk worthy of You Lord, fully pleasing You, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You, God; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to You, Father, who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. Thank you, Father, for delivering us from the power of darkness and conveying us into the kingdom of the Son of Your love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. In the name of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ, I pray this to You, Father.Amen (This prayer adapted from Scripture; Colossians 1:9-14)Rhonda Disbrow 11/25/2007
