- 1 Corinthians 2:9
- However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”[a]— the things God has prepared for those who love him—
- In Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth, he explains the wisdom we gain from God through the Spirit and the unthinkable blessings that God bestows upon those who love him. In quoting Isaiah 64:4, Paul reminds the church that “no mind has conceived” the things of God. He’s conveying to the Corinthians that that secular wisdom does not have insight into the mind of God. However, as believers in Christ, God bestows His wisdom upon us through His Spirit, so that we might know His truth. While initial readings of this verse may suggest that Paul is referring to future glory that God has prepared for us, it’s likely that he was also referring to the immediate blessing of receiving God’s Spirit, and the glory in our current life that is only attainable through loving Him.
