  1 Thessalonians 5:15
Jump to another verse
"See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all. "
1 Thessalonians 5:1 But as to the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need to have anything written to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
1 Thessalonians 5:3 When people say, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as travail comes upon a woman with child, and there will be no escape.
1 Thessalonians 5:4 But you are not in darkness, brethren, for that day to surprise you like a thief.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:6 So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.
1 Thessalonians 5:7 For those who sleep sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
1 Thessalonians 5:8 But, since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
1 Thessalonians 5:10 who died for us so that whether we wake or sleep we might live with him.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:12 But we beseech you, brethren, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
1 Thessalonians 5:13 and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always,
1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray constantly,
1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit,
1 Thessalonians 5:20 do not despise prophesying,
1 Thessalonians 5:21 but test everything; hold fast what is good,
1 Thessalonians 5:22 abstain from every form of evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:24 He who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.
1 Thessalonians 5:26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
1 Thessalonians 5:27 I adjure you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the brethren.
1 Thessalonians 5:28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

It is not for the good of the person who has wronged us that we do this.....it is what is best for us! If we forgive and give the situation to God to deal with, we are released from any bitterness that may take root in our heart, and God deals with the offender much better than we ever could!! :)

When the Lord commands us to do good to those who does evil against us, often i find it quite difficult. But as i say the Lord's prayer ............. forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who tresspass against us ...........i can do nothing else but to forgive and pray for those who hurt me.
Lord give us the Grace to Forgive and not to forget that we have already forgiven them.

A Christian counselor we met in Alaska told us retailiation only intensifies the struggle between two or more people. If we want to ease the emotions and strife, don't respond in kind. The opposite is also true -- when someone does something good for us and we respond by doing good for them or anyone else, the emotion is strengthened and grows like ripples in a pond! If we don't respond, the emotion starts to die. I am going to resolve to make more "Love" ripples than evil ripples in the "pond" I live in! Won't you join me?

Never pay evil for evil. The lord said many are the afflictions of the righteous but God delivers us from them all. God will protect the right and no sick person will get away from his wrath so be patient and allow God to deal accordingly with the wicked cause he will deal with them.

One of the things alot of us struggle with is not getting even. We dont need to repay evil for evil, as that is what is expected by the world, because thats their way of resolving conflicts and bringing closure to predicaments. The King's standard is different. He says to love even our enemies and pray for for those who persecute us. The King is always pointing us to the higher ground, a position that reflects the nature and culture of the His Kingdom.Lets be like our King and allow goodness to consume our inner-man, then doing good to all will flow naturally.Shalom

AMEN.....

God wants that we repay evil with good not only to end strife but to let peace and love reign -- proof that God reigning in our midst!

Nais ng Dios na mabuti ang iganti sa masama di lang para matapos ang alitan kundi upang maghari ang kapayapaan at pagiibigan -- patunay na ang Dios ay naghahari sa ating kalagitnaan!

God really used this verse to speak to me this week. There are some major things going on in my family and He basically told me to keep my cool and stand firm in His care and He'll work out everything to the good. What an awesome God He is!!

God gives me strength to carry this out

Don't do eye for eye...... but repay with Love....

This is just plain good common sense for everyone! Even the unbeliever can benefit. Got Jesus? I can help. send me a message. Have a good, Great and Godly Day! Phil 4:13

Lyle has always said "Two wrongs don't make a right"....even before he started serving the Lord!!!! I don't think he realized that was in the Bible!!!! Always "Treat others how you would like to be treated"-----(The Golden Rule). :D

Amen......

i really screwed this one up today, thank you jesus that i am forgiven

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. PERSEVERANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS SURE IS TRUE...HMM

What a beautiful text. You and I do not know peoples circumstances or stresses, so acts of kindness can go along way without ever knowing it. All people want is to be loved and accepted. Thats what Christ does for us, so pass it on.

A large-hearted person shows his affection with his words and actions- freely and generously. As believers, let us live with a large heart, freely welcome and embrace others in love. It will manifest the essence of Jesus' character, for it has always been His nature to think more of others than He thinks of Himself. The more we love the Lord, the more we love others!!

We hear it over & over again, that we wrestle NOT with flesh & blood, but with principalities of darkness ~ SATAN is behind MOST, not ALL, but MOST fleshy actions! Therefore, We know that we we're SHAPED n2 equity & born n2 SIN, until we SAW JESUS & were FORGIVEN, WE did the same thing! or yet do fall short of the glory of GOD... therefore since we know the motive, and know the rewards, and with the HOLY GHOST, leading & guiding, WE should be MOST MERCIFUL 2 one another. Knowing that GOD is the ONE who will JUSTIFIED, JUDGE all things in due season, and avenge and recompense all matters! Having the fruits of the spirit, WE should suffer long and be kind, wanting to be n a position to always WIN SOULS.. winning a soul, teach one to b temperate in all things and HE/SHE saves HIS own soul and growth is imminent! amen 2 the new way of life, bless your name LORD JESUS! bless your HOLY NAME!
