"My brethren, show no partiality as you hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. "
James 2:1 My brethren, show no partiality as you hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.
James 2:2 For if a man with gold rings and in fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in,
James 2:3 and you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, "Have a seat here, please," while you say to the poor man, "Stand there," or, "Sit at my feet,"
James 2:4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
James 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren. Has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those who love him?
James 2:6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you, is it not they who drag you into court?
James 2:7 Is it not they who blaspheme that honorable name which was invoked over you?
James 2:8 If you really fulfil the royal law, according to the scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.
James 2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.
James 2:11 For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," said also, "Do not kill." If you do not commit adultery but do kill, you have become a transgressor of the law.
James 2:12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty.
James 2:13 For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy; yet mercy triumphs over judgment.
James 2:14 What does it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith but has not works? Can his faith save him?
James 2:15 If a brother or sister is ill-clad and in lack of daily food,
James 2:16 and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what does it profit?
James 2:17 So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
James 2:18 But some one will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.
James 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe--and shudder.
James 2:20 Do you want to be shown, you shallow man, that faith apart from works is barren?
James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?
James 2:22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works,
James 2:23 and the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness"; and he was called the friend of God.
James 2:24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.
James 2:25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
James 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead.

Romans 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

This one is occasionally a smidge tough for me - I work in a profession where I'm often called upon to make snap judgments about people, and I'd be lying if I said that appearance didn't play a big role in that, much of the time. I have a strong bias against tattoos, for example, because of the work I do - although there are plenty of people I know, love and respect with tattoos...it's still something I have a hard time getting past.

This judgmental thinking is definitely something I can work consciously against, though - it's just something I have to remind myself about, and I do. I take some comfort in the fact that the verse says we must not SHOW favoritism...my first, unworthy thoughts, if they go unspoken and unacted upon, don't have to condemn me on this point. I can clean my attitude up before I act or speak, and redeem myself on this point, I hope! Because really, after all, what do I know? There's no way we'll ever have the insight into another man's heart to truly know him, no way we could ever be anything other than a "judge with evil thoughts," as James goes on to say in verse 4. It's only God who knows the heart...

I'm forced to keep right on reading down to the stern reminder in verse ten: "For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it." Who am I? Okay, there are areas where I can hold my head up and say I'm doing well. But I certainly have my fair share of ugly drawbacks. How grateful am I that God hasn't made distinctions and left me aside as unworthy!

There's very little in James that doesn't strike a chord with me - I've often said it's the one book I could read every day and be convicted each time, and learn and benefit from it each time. Of course, I've SAID it enough, but I haven't immersed myself in James for any length of applied time, either...

I know it is hard to be fair and treat everybody the same way you want to be treated. I struggle with this ; because I do hold grudes against others. I am going to pray that the Lord helps me to let go. Also, to forgive what others did to me. Then I need to ask forgiveness.

FAVOURITISM FORBIDDEN
James sets out clear and compeling reasons for not having a discriminatory spirit. He deals with this topic in his letter - James 2:1-13. James warns against showing partiality to the wealthy Christian as opposed to the poor Christian. There are a number of warnings in the O.T. about showing partiality and a number of guidelines in the N.T. instructing us how to treat fellow Christians. What is the attitude of our heart towards the poor in our churches? Do we care for them as we should, or are we taken up by those who are able to finance our church projects? Are we more concerned about money and possessions than we are about people? Do we placate the rich and ignore te poor? Let us remember that the poor are precious in God's sight and He has singled them out for a special blessing. James states that the wrong treatment of the poor is a violation of God's law and the violation of it is sin.The Church must not show social discrimination - God looks on the heart and not on outward appearances! Friends, we will be judged in three distinct areas of our lives: our words, our actions and our attitudes. Let us pursue righteousness and mercy. Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.......love your neighbour as yourself." May we fulfil the Royal Law of Love and thereby bring glory to God!

This is a very difficult verse but God will give us the grace to abide. It just like saying in the house of God there are more poeple who deligently seek the lord more and then you want to bless someone in the church. My first instinct will be to that person who has sincerely poured his/her heart in service to God. It can also be one of your children.you show more favour to the one that is more hard working than the other, also with someone who is of a different faith and belief. There are different scenerios but the Lord is calling us today not to show favorotism instead when we are faced with it we pray and ask the lord to put a word in our hearts so we can misniter love to that person

James 2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors

I see favoritism and showing partiality in the church even among the church leaders. I think that people don't realize that they are doing it. Let's challenge ourselves and our children to seek out those in our church who may be left out or excluded. If someone is ignored, they will become hurt and may stop coming to church.

It is so easy for us to show favoritism. We naturally tend to be selective. But God calls us to live not as natural men and women but as Spirit led servants of Christ. Jesus felt compassion on all the people. When we show partiality, we set ourselves up as the judge of a man's worth. Only God is capable of evaluating worth. People are what they are by the grace and purpose of God. When we assign value above our understanding, we set ourselves up as the authority instead of accepting God and God alone as that authority. No person is more important than another. No one is less important than any other. We must resist the temptation to be the evaluator of others value and accept that God put all of us here for HIS purpose and plan.

For the body is not one member, but many. 1 Cor. 12:14
May we treat others as we want to be treated. As we treat others in the body we are treating Jesus. In the flesh this is easier to say than to do. We need to pray asking the Lord for His Love to show to other members of the body. We are all imperfect, however it is always easier to see others faults than our own. It is a daily examination of ourselves to see where we are with the Lord, to confess and repent where necessary. When we do this then perhaps we will be able to be help to other members of the body of Christ. Love of course is the key, 1Cor.13, certainly shows us that. May we truly pray for God's love to be included in everything we do and say. How He Loves Us uncondiitionaly is often times beyond our capacity and comprehension. May we seek Him and His Will daily.

James 2:1 My brethren, show no partiality as you hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory

Believers can be guilty of disobeying God by showing partiallity to another because of wealth or status of a person. We are all equal at the foot of the Cross. God is not a respector of persons. Why then are we?

amen....

This should be posted everywhere!

Lord Thank you for My Blessing !! Amen !!

Favoritism forbidden. Be merciful because mercy triumphs over judgment.

In God's eyes we are all equally challenged!!! :) So who am I to judge anyone else when I myself am equal to them.

TO BE A LIGHT OF THIS WORLD THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU CAN NOT BE SEEN I LOVE MATTHEW 5:14

1love Blessed;-)!!!

I think what this means is that, everybody is loved by God. So theres no need to hold hate against anyone because we are all God's creation. But I might go and ask someone what this really means:)

Yes jesus loves all of us equally. Amen to that................
