"But he gives more grace; therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." "
James 4:1 What causes wars, and what causes fightings among you? Is it not your passions that are at war in your members?
James 4:2 You desire and do not have; so you kill. And you covet and cannot obtain; so you fight and wage war. You do not have, because you do not ask.
James 4:3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
James 4:4 Unfaithful creatures! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
James 4:5 Or do you suppose it is in vain that the scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit which he has made to dwell in us"?
James 4:6 But he gives more grace; therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:8 Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you men of double mind.
James 4:9 Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to dejection.
James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.
James 4:11 Do not speak evil against one another, brethren. He that speaks evil against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
James 4:12 There is one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you that you judge your neighbor?
James 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and get gain";
James 4:14 whereas you do not know about tomorrow. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
James 4:15 Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and we shall do this or that."
James 4:16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
James 4:17 Whoever knows what is right to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

God will not tolerate a proud or arrogant attitude in His children. Instead we are to humble ourselves before the Lord. The Bible is full of verses that teach this, pointing to the fact that it is an issue with mankind. We can either choose to humble ourselves before God, or He will humble us Himself.....those are the choices!
This goes hand in hand with putting others needs in front of your own, Jesus always did that when He walked this earth, to the point of dying for our sin! He never boasted about anything except how great God is, that we may boast merciful God is to us!!! :)

The minute we think we have humility we lose it. We actually revert to pride when we pat ourselves on the back for being humble. We are not perfect beings. deep down inside we are looking for approval, some type of recognition for a job well done. As Christians we need to give the glory to God. To do so we need to strive to take the focus of of ourselves and put it on Christ. To be humble is not to think less of ourselves, it is to think of ourselves less. By his grace he will take care of us we need not think of ourselves. This is not an easy task for us as sinners. We need to surrender daily, sometimes ten times a day. We don't have to try put ourselves on a pedestal. God promises us in his word that if we humble ourselves he will lift us up. Try to do something for some one else with out letting any one ever know, not even the person you are helping, try to put the focus on Christ alone, believe me it is not easy! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Lord please work on me to be more humble.

Our pride in our selves can build a wall between us and God, 'we are doing so well we think and of course it is down to our own doing.' we can forget to give our thanks to God.
If our pride is fixed on an object, are we guilty of idolatry. Do we value the object more than God ?
All that we are and all that we have has come as a free gift from God. He has given us the characture and talents that have made us who we are today.
Remember friends give credit where credit is due. Thank God for the blessings that have been and the ones that will be.

Notice in Scripture..... Every time some one or some country rose up and became a powerful person or nation and cut God out of their life or they worshipped multiple God's.... God popped up and sent them plagues, pestilence, disasters etc.... Look around at what's going on in the world today.... if you are paying any attention you will notice some erie similarities to stuff that happened 4 or 5 thousand years ago and throughout the ensuing years. Ask God for His Grace that you don't fall into this trap and suffer His Wrath.

Friends its gud to be humble.

Yes our pride can be overcome onnly with His Grace.
It was pride that caused Lucipher the angel to become Satan.
And pride makes us also to do the same - Oppose the Will of God.
So dear friends let us humble ourselves before our Lord and receive Grace upon Grace, Amen .

may we owaz be able to humble ourselves so tht God's favour may owaz be upon us.amen

Humble yourselves, and see how the Lord will pour out His grace upon you. What a feeling it is to rest in His peace, mercy and grace! Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.

Thank you God for grace

James 4:6 "But he gives more grace; therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

"But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.""

Crazy how the right verse finds you when you need it...we don't all know everything, but it starts with trust in God.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James 4:7

Thank goodness for God's grace which enables us to live humbled lives in serving the oppressed and less fortunate.

''GOD opposes everyone who is proud, but he blesses all who are humble with undeserved grace.''

I can understand God's opposition to PRIDE, it is the downfall of so many in this world we live in. None here is perfect nor are we always right. Only one MAN was perfect. Saying" I am wrong" or" I am sorry " is the hardest 3 words of the society today. Being a TRUE Christian in your heart can say all three with no problems. I am a teacher in VBS this week, I am so humbled and appreciate those kids more than words can say. Let us ALL live in the love and grace like children, especially the children of our SAVIOR. Amen!!!

It is through humility that real change can exist and take place. Spiritually humility keeps us at our right size, knowing God is the ultimate source of our good.Pride is about self and getting or wanting things our way. Pride is the inability to eliminate self and self interest."Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility." (Proverbs 18:12.) Pride and Humility ~ "When destruction walks through the land, it casts its shadow; it is in the shape of pride. When honor visits a man's house, it casts its shadow before it; it is in the fashion of humility." C. H. Spurgeon.~Grace~ Grace is not an abstract quality, but is an active working principle. Grace denotes favor. The fundamental idea is that it is un-merited favor in which it is given freely, as a gift, and is a divine characteristic of God himself which is given without consideration of any claim or merit. Grace comes only from the very heart of God so no man or woman can ever boast that somehow it was manifested under there own efforts or power ~God’s sustaining grace is ever present and is always available. Grace allows us to face life in bold confidence; that all we face will be perfected in our weaknesses. Grace allows us to be content in any and (all) situations. Grace upholds us, grace is so adequate, so sufficient, and is given to us in kindness and love. While we are waiting for God to answer, we have the awesome power of sustaining grace to carry on. Grace allows us to continue on when our situations and circumstances haven’t changed yet. ~ Love to all! ~ Michael Hayes
