  Romans 13:8
Jump to another verse
"Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. "
Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
Romans 13:2 Therefore he who resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.
Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of him who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,
Romans 13:4 for he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain; he is the servant of God to execute his wrath on the wrongdoer.
Romans 13:5 Therefore one must be subject, not only to avoid God's wrath but also for the sake of conscience.
Romans 13:6 For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.
Romans 13:7 Pay all of them their dues, taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.
Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:9 The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this sentence, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Romans 13:10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Romans 13:11 Besides this you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed;
Romans 13:12 the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light;
Romans 13:13 let us conduct ourselves becomingly as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy.
Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.

This is a difficult verse, especially for many of us Americans who have been raised in an "I want it now" society where we can pull up next to a building and have hot food immediately handed to us without ever stepping out of our cars, too often we put what we want on credit without ever knowing how it feels to earn the money , or we purchase homes and cars that we can't afford with money we don't have. Then, at the first sign of financial trouble, a little accident, maybe someone loses a job and is out of work for a couple months, their entire life seems to be destroyed. Husbands, wives, neighbors, employers who were once friends, often become bitter enemies as the result. Gods plan, was that we not put ourselves in such situations.

bible is God's love letter for us.Thank u lord

It is clear many times in Scripture that God wants us to be financialy responsible in our lives. Reason being that the borrower is slave to the lender (Proverbs 22:7).
The one debt that is always outstanding however is the obligation to love. The love used here is "agape" love which is deep, unselfish, superhuman affection which one person has for another. This type of love is not based on feeling, it is not because the other person is deserving of our love. It is in fact undeserved love, and applies even to our enemies!
Primarily it is through our will that we choose to have this type of love because we are commanded to in God's Word. It is not possible for an unsaved person to have this divine love for others since they do not posess the indwelling Holy Spirit, which is the only way we as God's children can express this love, not on our own power. If we love the Lord then we will obey His commands!!

What is love, and why is it so special?

Kristina Meese, Germany

“Love” is a topic that is spoken about by all sorts of people from all walks of life. It is discussed by philosophers, romanticised by film directors, scoffed at by cynics and praised by poets. But what does it actually mean to love? What does the Bible say about love?

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13.
This is the secret, the mystery which so few people have understood. Love is about giving, about sacrificing what you have for the good of the others. This is what God did, in sending His only begotten Son down to earth, so that you and I could get the chance to be saved.
Most people do not want to give – they want to get! If they give or lend something to someone, they expect to get something in return, preferably bigger and better than what they gave away. Divine love makes people totally different. They start to “lend, hoping for nothing in return” (Luke 6:35) and their joy comes from being able to help the others.
Do we really become happy by giving, or is it just a myth? You may deem it illogical that spending your time and money on other people will increase your joy. But isn’t it worth trying? You could wait for a long time – the rest of your life, in fact – for other people to start giving you things. If you are so dependent on others, then the peace and happiness you desire will never be within your reach.
But you can choose to start giving immediately, straight away! Let God’s love influence you to do what you can for others, and you will experience the truth of those well known words: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”Acts 20:35. You will experience that this divine love will transform you!

Sometimes people are hating so much there is nothing you can do except Bless them according to Gods will (that none should perish and all should receive everlasting life). Dont be tempted to judge if they are worthy because it not in your authority. Forgive them again and again. Until...God shows up. Let your peace return to you and give this battle over to the Lord Jesus Christ. All things are possible with God. He can take the blackest of hearts and make it white as snow. He does work these miricles. He did it for me. Somebody, took the time and prayed for me to be blessed. I most definanately was not worthy. But, somebody obeyed the Lord. And all the angels in Heaven sang Holy Holy Holy is the Lamb. He is Worthy!!!!!!!

Let the world see Jesus in us by loving the way He loves.....Unconditionally. He loves us because of who He is, it is not based on our performance and we don't have to always be perfect in order for Him to love us. He loves us because its His very nature and He wants to clothe us in His love, and then He wants us to share it with others. I have tasted how good the Lord is and my life will never be the same. Be hungry for the Lord and what He has for you, and your life will change in a great way. He loves you and wants to bless you.

If only we as humans can love one another just as we love ourselves, the world will be a better place to live in.. Therel be no hatred or enemity.. thats what GOD is telling us in todays bible verse.. Let us love as Christ loves us enough to die for us on the cross. May HE give us the grace to have an open mind and the desire to truly love one another, Amen.

And He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you,
for MY strength is made perfect for weakness."
Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest
upon me. --2 COR. 12-9

The Word of God provides the light we need to see the way; so if we learn what God has said, we'll not be lead astray.Amen.

Loving others can be hard at times but its the right thing to do. Even when they strike at our faith or hurt us physically, mentally and emotionally. When you open your arms to them and they turn and spit in your face, or even when you ask them for help and they step aside so your enemy may take you head on. But none of that matters because we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. But more importantly we are all precious children of God. He created us with a purpose and a destiny. He wants us to be loving, peaceful, patient, kind, have goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. [Galatians 22-23] And with those qualities we can love man and ourselves. So we can care enough about this world and change it for the better.

Dear Father thank you for the desires you’ve placed in my heart, and how I can demonstrate your love to others this day and use me as a vehicle to bring joy and encouragements so that I can give love and welcome love back.

Love can bear all things ,believe all things, Cause love never fails

I'm working on it, St. Paul. I'm working on it.
