We're in a war. That's all there is to it. Spiritual battles rage all around us. We need to be ready. But so often as Christians, we aren't. Imagine an army where soldiers walk away because they don't like the food or feel they don't get enough sleep. Sound ludicrous? That kind of thing happens everyday in the Lord's Army. We have no time for Bible study. We have no time for prayer. Friends, we need to make time for these things. Our success in battle depends on it. We'll be far better soldiers if we listen to the cry of our heavenly Commander, Jesus Christ. We must listen to His orders, then obey Him. Paul, one of the greatest drill sergeants ever to serve in the Army of God said this... Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. If we are to "stand", we must be ready to hear the clarion call of our Commander. Success hinges on our obedience to Him.
