Thanksgiving (part 2)

Part one was a few BLOGS ago.  But there are just so many things to be greatful for.  We serve such a gracious God.  Before I ever picked up my first Cigarette he sent plenty of teachers to warn me.  Trust me it took a lot of effort to become addicted to nicotine.  I just really really wanted to be cool in the eyes of my peers.

As a 3 pack a day smoker watching my Dad loosing his battle with cancer that was just how I thought I was destined to go, but this mighty gracious God saw fit to free me.  The 28Th will make 5  months with out a cigarette.  I AM SO GRATEFULL.

I'm Grateful for the Bible in this country we struggle to select an accurate translation that we can under stand.  This may not be the case with many folks who speak more obscure Dialects.  So I'm grateful for the folks at Tynsdale that are struggling to work on many of these translations.

The freedom to search the scriptures daily should not be taken for granted.  God's word how much is there to be grateful for there.  How much have we taken it for granted.  How many have died for us to know it's treasures.  Patriots of the Cross I think.

A beloved Pastor at my home Church was kidding around with me once at my home Church once and said everything's in the book of Ephesians.That may have been true to our brothers and sister from Ephesus in the first century.  But these days we have a feast of God's word.  How Glorious is that.

4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind, 4:18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart;

So I'm grateful that
1:5 And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

I'm also grateful we serve a all mighty compassionate God that can change a heart of stone to a heart of flesh.

For those of you who may have read an earlier prayer request.  http://www.mychurch.org/blog/96402/Prayer-Request.  I called my Mom today to wish her happy thanksgiving.  I have been in the habit of leaving messages on my brothers answering machine for years that basically said that I loved him.  They have gone unheeded.  A while back my mom returned a call from my brother's cell phone.  (You gotta love caller ID) (You gotta love God).  So I sent my baby Brother a text message,  simply saying "Happy Thanksgiving, & I love you Bro."  He sent me a message stating " I luv u bro." ending a several year draught of hearing from him..

It's a start.

Praise this awesome God we serve.

Hi, Dave--praise God for His work of restoration and healing in your family!  I'm praying for restoration and healing in two relationships, myself.  Sometimes it really takes time and patience, though.  You've encouraged me to get back into studying Ephesians--awesome book.

Dude, awesome that you heard from your brother!  Hurray for texting!  It gave him a way to "say it" without having to "say it".  It is a start, and a good one, praise God!

Wow...two things:

1. I totally agree with you that it is so cool to be able to search the scriptures fast and easy on the internet. What a blessing it is.

2.  What a way to end the drought!  You couldn't have hoped for a better response. TGBTG!!

5 months without a cigarette! I want to praise the Lord with you! I pray that you never lose that thankfulness for your freedom and what God has done in your life. It makes me want to thank Him for what He has done for me! I have 34 years under His protection & care as my heavenly Father!!! Thank you, Lord!!

I know how painful family hurts can be. May God continue to open doors for you in that area!
