| | Day 24 Current mood: sleepy The reading for day 24 was 2Samuel 23:1-1Kings 7:51. The life of David is a wonderful picture of God's love for sinful men. David was by no means perfect, but God showed his love to him and established a covenant with him in spite of his faults. Chapter 23 verse 5 says, "Is not my house right with God? Has he not made an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part? Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire?" If his salvation was secure how much more is ours? Do we not have a better covenant than he did? Not only did God secure the covenant but he is the one who arranged it. He is the initiator and the completer, the author and finisher, the alpha and omega. I think there is also a plug here for John Piper's "christian hedonism." "Will he not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire?" What an amazing thought. I would be interested to know, if anyone out there can tell me, if the granting of every desire is the fruition of his salvation here. Can anyone help me out? What was the purpose of Solomon's wisdom? Verse 28 of 1Kings chapter 3 says, "When all Israel heard the verdict he king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice." How important, to God, is the administration of justice? How important is it to us? There will be no blog tomorrow night...look for it the following morning . Sorry...this is keeping me up to late. |
