Merry Christmas

Here in Terre Haute I've got to admit that there are some places I don't particularly venture to until after New Years, When I was younger the only thing keeping me from enjoying the holidays was my own selfishness.

I've still noticed that there are still places where there are some Merry folks this time of year. Mostly they seem to be the folks that are volunteering at our local Lighthouse Mission. The folks that are putting up decorations at our local recovery club. Some of who are happy just to have been able to have gone a couple weeks or so without booze, or dope.

A little clarity and focus on our king, can act like a prism to cast a little color in a dark world. I always like that refrain on that praise song "not for us but for your Name be the glory." All I want for Christmas right now is the courage to walk up to a stranger, strike up a conversation, let them know that they aren't alone. Maybe lead them in a prayer. Maybe let them know that some one cares.

Maybe the courage to love. The way Jesus first Loved us.

Dave, you have such an encouraging spirit and humor. I'm sure God will bring more than one divine appointment in your path this holiday season to encourage another Christian or witness to someone who needs to know Jesus as their Savior.

Charlie Brown Christmas special was on last night--my co-worker told me. Criminy! It's not even December yet. I missed it.

I like that saying that Corrie Ten Boom used often. No matter ow low we may get Christ can still go lower. I'm probably misquoting her. But considering what she survived I figure she would know.
