| How to receive from God? For many people it is one of the greater mysteries that desire to be revealed. Therefore most of our life we are searching for something that complete our lacks. “One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God, he saw at the water's edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down, the nets for a catch." Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. “
While I meditated in those verses two things were revealed in my soul and spirit:
1. Pedro was moved by his passed experience; Jesus instead, was moved by faith. Our bad previous experiences can create us negative thoughts that go against what God says in His Word. Peter based his faith in himself, on his experience as fisherman plus the previous night‘s experience; for that reason everything indicated him that there wasn’t any possibility to have a good fishing in the morning, with more light, more people, less serenity, he had for sure “this fishing will be a failure”.
Of course, when we base our faith in ourselves and on what we are able to do according to our nature and skills, it's normal to think that "we'll fail". But the key is put our faith IN JESUS.
Jesus in the meantime was not moved for what Peter told him, neither by the experience of others; He was only moved by the faith that He had in the Word.
Having faith in the Word is the initial key to receive. 2. The second thing that captivated my heart in this passage is that even when Pedro believed in his heart that “this fishing will be a failure”, even when he objected Jesus and said to him ""Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. " However, Peter did something that many of us we forget, HE ACT ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF JESUS…. HE “let down the nets."
The Word of God is so powerful that possesses a supernatural faith in itself. When we operate according to It, It simply works!
There are people expecting something from God, they read the Bible, they have prayed, and they say "I have faith"; but yet they have not put their nets down; therefore they are expecting God do something and in the meantime God longs to bless them with a great fishing!
Peter decided to go fishing again! In worse conditions, during the day and after a long night working so hard, but he decided to obey the word that Jesus gave him, thus we should act according to this Word.
It doesn’t matter that we tried it before and it didn’t work’ No matter about bad experiences, we act according to the Word that we have received from God and we’ll fish.
Remember “Put out into deep water, and let down, the nets for a catch." While Jesus is in the boat all the fishes around belong to Him.
Love you!
