I just figured If I was gonna title a post something I should know what the title meant. Personally I'd like to say that a lie is a lie no matter what. Whether it has to do with tradition or whatever. But before I wax all self righteous and everything have you ever stopped in mid sentence because. You guessed it you caught yourself in the middle of a doozy.
Say an attractive lady calls you up and wants to know what to do about this and that and in mid-sentence (Oh I'm giving myself too much credit) after a minute or two of babbling you (or in this case me, it just sounds better if I use you) realise You haven't a clue what your talking about and it's gonna be embarrassing when you have to admit it.
Well I do have my opinions concerning the holidays, but I don't have kids who am I to tell some one what to say concerning Santa Clause. I realize it's a fable and yes I wish I had been told the truth from the get go. But who am I to second guess my parents who were doing the best they humanly could.
My Dad may not have been perfect but there was a reason God chose him for me and Visa-versa I'm sure as hard as it is to believe that I presented my challenges. I still think as Christians we do have to keep an eye out. As some folks would like to see our souls at peace, while others just want the money out of our wallets.
I saw this story in a couple of videos the point of the story is if yo flop a frog in a pot of boiling water he'll hop right out. I can't say as Id blame him. But if you put a frog in water that's room temperature and slowly turn the water up he'll stay in the water until he boils.
The point is that whenever we accept something for the sake of getting along. For instance Happy Holidays as opposed to Merry Christmas, Or men and women living together rather risking a marriage covenant, or say in the Case or that fancy new bill in California that say that text books shouldn't show a bias towards Heterosexual Couples.
4:11 And he gave some `to be' apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 4:12 for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ: 4:13 till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 4:14 that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error; 4:15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, `even' Christ; 4:16 from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in `due' measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love.
Gifts of the spirit I LOVE PRESENTS
<<<MERRY CHRISTMAS>>>

| So my dear friends there is more to being hoodwinked than the mere winking of a hood. |

This is AWESOME Dave. Now I will have to go back to read part 1.
I too love Christmas presents of the spirit. Still waiting on mine... hint hint Lord ;-)... but I love other presents the spirt has been giving our family.
For instance I have already received the best Christmas present I will ever receive in my life aside from salvation, and the holy spirit, this year in the blending and bonding of a lopsided dysfunctional Brady bunch coupled with a soldier daddy who went to war, rebelious teenagers who hated living with strangers, a suspicious and judgmental mom (me), and a recovering alchoholic/addict mom (me) who had a relapse in the first year and a half of marriage and tried to end her life. YIKES that was icky to write... anyway...
I have truly been blessed already this year and THANKS God for the awesome presents this year. |

God gives good gifts! BTW - We never did the Santa thing at our house. In fact, one of my kids got in trouble with a neighbor for telling her kids that Santa wasn't real. We had to draw some fine lines as to when it is appropriate to bring up touchy subjects like this. No fun trying to make a little kid understand why he couldn't go around spouting the truth of Santa's (non) existence. |

| I wrote this somewhere else on another blog, but I had a second grade teacher that told the class there was no Santa. That really raised the hackles of a lot of parents. |

Dave, anytime you put "an attractive lady" and a "man babbling" together, you are describing the normal reaction by the man. Don't ask me why. Take it up with the Big Guy.
I always opt for the truth. Lies only hurt - sooner or later. |
