| How do you spend your commute? |

3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
A couple of years back my wife and I had the opportunity to purchase a copy of the NIV New Testament on CD. Our church must have received a special purchase from the distributor because the copies were a pretty reasonable price....so we decided to purchase one. We did so with the intent of using them on our commute to and from work. We work together - so we thought it would be a good time to spend some time in the Word...
Well, as often happens in our busy lives, we never really got around to using the CD's. They've just been sitting in our van unused for about 2 years. Yesterday, I had to run home to get something....and God spoke to me and brought to mind those CD's. I was very much down in the spirit and thought that spending some time listening to Gods word would be uplifting. Well, in the hour commute to and from home....I was able to listen to the entire books of Philippians through II Timothy. What a blessing it was to spend this time in the word. I returned to work refreshed, renewed, and uplifted.
This morning, I was in a hurry and started my commute listening to some morning news. Then, my mind started wandering and I suffered an attack of the flesh. I immediately turned on the bible Cd's - and do you know what verse started playing?
12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 12:8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
I would encourage you to use your commute to work praying, talking with God, and spending time in His word. There are many reasonable audio Bibles that you can find at your local Christian bookstore. God can and will bless you for being a good steward of your time. So often I know that I have difficulty making time to spend with God in prayer and bible study. God is showing me that I have time that is not being used wisely. If we will only listen to and follow His leading...be aware of that "still, small voice".....He will bless us...and we will find that our spirit will be uplifted.
May God bless and keep you. May God work in your life to be a good steward of the time that you have... |
