Prayer for those who are struggling to find a church home

This morning I was reading another message board that I frequent....the discussion was around those who had grown up in a certain legalistic denomination and the struggle they've found in finding a church home since leaving that environment.  Someone posted their own thoughts and at the end said that the discussion had prompted her to pray for her friends that are struggling to find a church family.  My conscience was pricked by the Holy Spirit. How often during these discussions to I want to lash out with my own hurts and emotions....and how seldom do I thank God for the church family that I've found.  I don't pause to think about those that have suffered the same hurts as I have that still haven't found a loving church family.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Please help those that are struggling to find fellowship with a spirit-filled body of Christ.  May the Holy Spirit guide them to where you would have them be....may their spirit be uplifted and your peace reign in their lives.  May we follow the advice of the apostle Paul when he wrote to the church at Colossia:

3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.


In all these things Lord, help us to be diligent.  For it's in Christ name I pray.  Amen.

This kind of goes along with the blog that I wrote...http://www.mychurch.org/blog/104651/What-Being-a-Family-is-All-About.  My prayer is the same as yours, that God will guide them to a church home.

Deb - it's interesting.  Right after I had read the other discussion - I read your blog post for today.  It does coincide with my thoughts.  Having a loving church family is such a blessing.  We must strive to pray and uplift those that are struggling to find such an environment.  God told us to gather together with other believers for a reason.  We are to uplift each other, encourage each other, pray for each other.  Yes, discipline and admonishment is part of it too - but too often we only focus on those aspects and forget the others.

Wow... isn't if funny how you all are thinking the same... God is cool for some of us we have to hear the message twice.

I had to grow progressively away from my original RELIGION I grew up in to get to a Bapticostal... non-denomination AMAZING church that only teaches the BIBLE and is growing beyond any pastors imagination... Kinda like Rick Warrens church in CA.
