3:30 He must increase, but I must decrease." "He must increase, but I must decrease." I make this little prayer every morning, taken from the Gospel of John, and refererring to the words of John the Baptist. When I pray it, I say "You must increase...."
So, what does this verse mean to me? Why am I so attached to it?
I think a large percentage of sin in us today comes from one thing: PRIDE. Me, my, mine; my way or the highway; I did it MY WAY. What about God's way?
The more I allow Christ to enter into my soul, the less of ME there is to be worried over. No one wants to spend an eternity with ME. I must want to abandon myself to Christ: my thoughts, my words, my deeds, MY WILL. He freely gave me a will and I just as freely give it back to Him.
Try it. Abandon yourself for a day, your entire self, and invite Christ in. Let him increase as you decrease!
