| Have you proved the armor of God? |
|
| |
17:38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. 17:39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved [it]. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved [them]. And David put them off him. In this story the people of God were fearful, so they hid themselves behind rocks, which represent the Church building. When young David comes walking up to the Church and sees God's people hiding behind the four walls of the Church, he is baffled. He couldn't understand why God's people would allow this so-called big, bad man, Goliath, who represents the lost world, stand outside and mock the Church and everything it stands for.
After a brief discussion with the leaders and elders, David asked the question, " Is there not a cause?" One of the elders gives him some weapons and bids him God's speed to go out and fight the world.
But David knew nothing of these kind of weapons, armour, swords and such, so he puts them down and tells the Elder of the Church, "I have not proved this weapons." So off he goes and gets the only weapon he knows will defeat the giant, five smooth stones and Prayer, which represents the Bible, and he continues on to reprove the world of sin.
So, let's get to the bottom line.... If Goliath represents the world, the rocks represent the Church, and the five smooth stones represent the Word of God, CAN THE PEOPLE OF GOD STILL REPROVE THE WORLD USING JUST THE WORD OF GOD? AND IF SO, WHY ARE SO MANY OF US HIDING BEHIND THE FOUR WALLS OF THE CHURCH?
28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

Amen, bro. Amen. So many in the church either don't recognize the enemy, or refuse to engage him. Like Israel at Kadesh Barnea, they let fear rob them of PROMISE and whimper in hiding about the giants in the land. And truth be told, their fear could cost them a generation. David's boldness should be our boldness. "Who is this uncircumsized philistine?" The thing that has come to really grip me about this story is David's confidence in the Lord. Five smooth stones. Was this in case he missed on his first shot? Or because he knew Goliath had four brothers? |

Amen Don! I love this! "Five smooth stones. Was this in case he missed on his first shot? Or because he knew Goliath had four brothers?" |
|
|
| A smooth stone doesn't start out smooth. It starts out as a rock that is rough around the edges and the process of water passing over the rock wears the edges down until it becomes smooth. Very much like how the word is able to soften our hearts. Why five stones? There are the five books of Moses that represent the law, which speak of Christ. Christ is the "one" so the law in itself does not have the power of the Lawgiver, Jesus Christ! I hope that helps. Shalom |

| Not just using the word of God, but living it also...that is key.. |

Lara- You are correct, we must all live it as well! THanks Prophet. |

In these days, some people don't have good examples of how to use the armour. We need more mentors these days with consistency. We may have 1 out of 40 people in the U.S. that can teach or preach the bible, but how many have tapped into the unlimited potential of faith to wipe out cancer, AIDS, and any other world power? Don is right, we better have a few more stones ready!
You never have to put on the whole armour of God if you never take it off...

| Right on to all! I would only add that I think David knew what we should know today and that is "the enemy" is already defeated. That should make putting on the armor more of a ceremonial event. I mean how much fun would it be in pre-game for your favorite football team to don their "battle gear" if they knew they won before they even stepped on the field? |

| Thank all of you for your comments. (charlie Ja) I think you grasp this blog very well, " The enemy is already defeated" We just have to believe that the same God that helped David is the same God in whom we serve"! Stones are good, armor is God but relying and trusting in the already finished work of Jesus Christ and his Word is better.Let us know that the Word of God is the most powerful thing we can offer those that are Lost. |

I"M LOVIN IT Evangelist Keith
TO FIGHT SPIRITUAL BATTLES WE NEED GOD’S ARMOR. In the Christian life we battle against “the spiritual forces of evil” (the evil forces of fallen angels headed by Satan who is a vicious fighter, see 1 Peter 5:8). To withstand their attacks, we must depend on God’s strength and use every piece of his armor. Paul is not only giving this counsel to the church as a whole, but to each individual within the church. The entire body of Christ needs to be armed. As you do battle against “the powers of this dark world,” fight in the strength of the church, whose power comes from the Holy Spirit. |
