The reading for day 26 was 1Kings 17:1- 2Kings 4:44. I love the taunting that Elijah gives the prophets of Baal in chapter 18 of 1Kings. I wish that I could taunt what stupid people do and not feel guilty (should I feel guilty for saying that?). Why do you think, in chapter 2 of 2Kings, that Elijah tells Elisha three seperate times that he is going and for Elisha to stay behind? It reminded me somewhat of Jesus asking Peter three times if he loved him. I'm not sure if there's any parallel here or not, but thats what I was reminded of. I'm sure someone far wiser than I, or someone with a commentary will be able to expound the meaning of this passage to me . Its amazing to see how God provided for His prophets in the face of seemingly hopeless odds. "Lord they have killed all of your prophets and I am the only one left." God always keeps at least a portion of the people set apart for Himself. How hard is it for us to remember that we do not walk alone? "I reserve 7000 in Israel who have not bowed the knee to Baal." How encouraging must that have been for Elijah, yet at the same time, very humbling to realize that he is not the only one God is using. I like the Rich Mullins song "Elijah", its good; you should listen to it sometime. Also, I would like to know who is reading these wild ramblings of mine. I think it would be fun to know who my audience is . |
