If I looked at your calendar would I know you love God?
We have been talking about how to preach on sin showing your listener that they need Jesus. Again sin is lawlessness.(1John 3:4) We are not using the law on the righteous but the unrighteous as Paul taught Timothy. 1:8 But we know that the law [is] good, if a man use it lawfully; 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
The law is like a mirror showing your listener what sin is.(Rom 7:7) Today we are talking about the 4th Commandment and how to use it to show your proud friend that they are not that good. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. In a day where people are working 7 days a week to keep up with the Jones, we can clearly see the twisted priorities described in 2nd Timothy chapter 3. 3:1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. 3:2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3:3 inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good, 3:4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, It is clear that we are living in the last days as described by Paul to Timothy. People are living with inordinate affections where they have not honored God by keeping the Sabbath holy. Here's how you could use this command with your lost proud friend. God has asked us to set one day aside unto Him, have you ever been guilty of breaking this commandment? Then you are a lawbreaker in need of a Saviour.
Let me reiterate that this is intended to a proud lost individual, not to a born again believer.
