seeker,  Sorry to burst your bubble:

How is gravity derived.  Well there are theories and you folk in Aussie are upside-down to the folk in Canada (looking at the globe where north is up and south is down).  It is to do with the rotation of the earth.  If the earth stopped rotating, we would all float away so we would not need aeroplanes.

Gravity has nothing whatsoever to do with the rotation of the earth.  And, if it did stop rotating nothing would happen except we'd each weigh a few grams more and we'd have either day or night but not both.

In your etymology, you need to quote the entire citation:

*****************************************
religion
c.1200, "state of life bound by monastic vows," also "conduct indicating a belief in a divine power," from Anglo-Fr. religiun (11c.), from O.Fr. religion "religious community," from L. religionem (nom. religio) "respect for what is sacred, reverence for the gods," in L.L. "monastic life" (5c.); according to Cicero, derived from relegare "go through again, read again," from re- "again" + legere "read" (see lecture). However, popular etymology among the later ancients (and many modern writers) connects it with religare "to bind fast" (see rely), via notion of "place an obligation on," or "bond between humans and gods." Another possible origin is religiens "careful," opposite of negligens. Meaning "particular system of faith" is recorded from c.1300
*****************************************

Yes, it has to do with being "bound" - a voluntary bond between us and God.

The difference between a law and a "guide" is that to run contrary to a law means taht there are consequences (although I know a lot of people who consider speeding laws to be only guides. lol)

But I have to agree with you on one important thing,  God may have created man but man created the attorney.  Who else can take 10 simple performance based requirements and turn it into over 600 laws?

Hi Gene

TY for the comment.  I have read many theories of Gravity, fact is no one really knows, the most logical is to do with mass attracting but even that is a theory.  I guess Only God knows how it really works.  He is an amazing Creator.

There are also principles in nature that are referred to as laws of nature, they exist perpetually like the natural inbuilt desire to multiply.  Plants flower in season, take away the bee or insect to do their part, the plant if perennial will flower in season w/o stopping.

A spayed cat shows signs of a cat in season, a castrated dog is aware of a bitch on heat.  These too a re principles, they just are, some call them instinct.  Laws can affect principles but they cannot make them go away or change.  DNA can be manipulated by man not created like in cloning.

Point is God = Love, love is a principle thus God is THE PRINCIPLE.  Changeless.
