| First Snowfall of Winter 2007 and Spinning Donuts with the Grandkids |

Web Log Gregorian Date Entry 2007.12.05 Situation: 1st Snowfall of 2007 with Grandkids Health and Welfare Report: Couldn't Be Happier
How about another one of my "picture blogs" with minimal words? OK, here it comes...
As most of you know, my oldest daughter and her family have moved in with my wife and I. That means we now have 4 adults, 5 children (plus one in the oven) and 4 dogs in the same house with only one full bathroom. We have learned how to run a tight ship schedule from revilie to taps; 0430 to 2100 daily. Since I am the captain, my hours vary to keep tabs on the ship's navigation systems. I'm a hands-on get-involved type of supervisory dude.
My oldest daughter is a stay-at-home mom so she is also tasked with taking care of me while my wife is at work. So that gives my oldest daughter SIX kids, ages 1 to 51, to take care of during the day. That does not include the one in the oven, either. The oven timer is currently set for mid-July 2008 but I'll keep y'all posted on that one.
Having 5 of my 6 grandchildren here is a real blessing and even more so when it snows as I found out this evening. Normally, a snowfall like this keeps them at home while my wife and I just talk to them on the telephone to hear how much fun they are having. But now, since their home is my home, we could share this special time and my wife snapped a few pictures of most of us having fun...
Seeing the snowflakes come down on the deck was really neat:

My oldest granddaughter stayed in one place too long and she got hit in the head with a snowball. This will teach Brittany to not "sit on the job" while she is supposed to be watching the little ones.

Mel, my wife's black Pug knew what to do while the snowballs were flying around:

My 2nd oldest granddaughter, Jill, was identified a prime suspect of throwing most of the snowballs that hit their mark.

Lucy was a mess but still having a lot of fun.

Ella was was so excited to go outside, she failed to take the time to put on her coat. Her mother fixed that problem soon after this picture was taken. LOL

And then there was Delana, my youngest granddaughter, experiencing her first snowball fight.

Old grandpop, ME of course, tried out his new powerchair in the snow by spinning donuts on the deck. If the roads are not cleared tomorrow morning, we'll try to get a few pictures of me during the day pulling a string of sleds with my grandkids in tow. For now, here is a shot of "Pop-Pop" (also caught not wearing a winter coat not to mention that his shirt was unbuttoned too  ).

Finally, no snowfall is complete without a snowman. Since we were all playing on an above-ground deck, we built what is called a "Table Snowman" which later was sacraficed to make more snowballs.

As always, I hope you enjoyed taking a few moments to read this blog, make a few comments and even give me a star (if the blog is worth one).
I'm doing "OK" healthwise and continue to ask that you keep me in your prayers. It is days like this that make living another day worth all of the pain. I serve, actually, we all serve, an AWESOME God! Every day, I generally will come in to contact with another person that is affected by MELAS or, at the very least, has a terminally ill family member that is seeking answers like - - "Why God?". My illness has enabled my wife and I to minister to people from all over the world that we probably would not have come in to contact with had God not allowed this illness to befall me. Remember, my sickness and pain is neither from God nor is it "punishment" from God. It is a ministry that I could not have had any other way. Like many full-time missionaries that go out in to the fields ripe for a harvest in the middle of nowhere to proclaim the Good News, they typically live very much like those that they are ministering too. Wearing the "been there, done that" badge, you can minister to folks on their level; truly being able to say with complete understanding; "I understand your pain and what you are facing in the future."
God is good, all the time. Make the most of every day in His grace and power. No matter what you are facing, living for Him, you'll never regret it. If you don't know Jesus Christ on a personal level, simply bow your head; right now. Ask for forgiveness, you didn't know. Ask for Him to come in to your heart and be a part of your life from this day forward. Raise up your head and look around. The Lord will show you a new perspective on everything. Let me know if you have any questions.
God bless you all!

| Dave, we too enjoyed the snow today! I worked at home, so it meant getting outside a little earlier than if I'd had to make the commute home. Great pictures, great closing two paragraphs! I appreciate this entry. ~mike |

| Snow flakes coming down, now that photo is fit for a post card or frame!!! BEAUTIFUL scene and great job of photography! Britanny sure did sit in one place too long! Must have been a HUGE snowball! Ha! Black pug was SMART. Yep, looks like the evidence is in Jill's hands! (Also, looks as if the birds are well fed and I'm sure they appreciate it.) OH, oh, the other photos had an x and could not see them for comment. Where was Mito during all this????? I'm sure that cute little thing was safe and sound somewhere! Have a blessed day! Just to keep the report straight--I looked at your site again and the other photos did come up! They are all really good. Lucy, Ella, and Delana are just as cute as they can be. You can tell they are having a fun time. Great photo of you in the powerchair! Isn't it wonderful they invented those? I do hope you are not in pain today and that you have a great day. Your ministry is a very unique and appreciated one. I put this on main comment and thought I should also give star and comment on the blog. |

| Great pictures Dave. Brings back a lot of memories of when my grandchildren were smaller and would come to visit me. I don't know how you do it with so many people in the house but they always say, "Where there's a will, there's a way." I'm sure it gets very hectic at times (especially with just the one bathroom) but the good times outweigh the bad times. Praise God for His Love, His Grace & His Mercy. And yes, you are a good witness for the Lord Jesus Christ. I just love what you said about your illness not being from God but instead being a ministry. Wow!!! Powerful Testimony. Have a good day. |

Cathy, after submitting the photographs to the appropriate agencies associated with solving mysteries such as posed by your inquisitive mind, they all concluded that further DNA analysis was necessary. Unfortunately, the "Table Snowman" had been partially dismembered the prior night in the interest of throwing more snowballs. Further decomposition was evident at 10 AM, shortly after your question was posted and upon arrival of First Responders. Paramedics concluded that the bright sunlight was simply too much for the Table Snowman. Historians from the Washington Museum of Arctic Art arrived on the scene at approximately 11 AM. Even while the government agencies were awaiting DNA results, the crack historians declared the Table Snowman a total loss with respect to being able to salvage any part of the artifact. Upon that critical decision, the local news media was given a press release at 11:45 AM, just prior to their noon-time news broadcasts. The DNA test results had just been received, including a thorough analysis of what used to be a green nose in said snowman.
So to answer your original question of "What is the green thing in the snowman's nose?"
That portion of the lab report states...
Quoting: "It was determined that the slimy green nose of the Table Snowman, prior to its demise over a period of approximately 15 hours, was the result of an improperly inserted carrot by the 51 year old's grandchildren. The orange carrot still had the green leafy portion attached to the top. DNA analysis of this body part concluded that it was definately made of rubber."
In closing, I would like to put everyones' minds at ease. Since all involved parties had a whole lot of fun throughout this event, no charges were filed and everyone was told to have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!

BREAKING NEWS ! ! !
My lovely wife, Theresa, just contacted me from her office at work. She was watching the noon-time news broadcast on our local broadcast channel, PastorDATM - Radio and TV, and it turns out that this blog was the first item in the news. Actually, it was the only item in the news...
Anyway, back at the farm, Theresa, a.k.a. MrsPastorDATM although she has yet to establish a separate account, wants everybody to know, for the record...
SHE TOOK THOSE AWESOME PICTURES AND SHE WANTS TO RECEIVE ALL ROYALTIES RECEIVED FROM THE WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION AND PUBLICATION OF SAID PICTURES.
Dave, her husband.
P.S. Hey hon, if you had a separate account, you could log in and collect your payments. :-P |

Another great/star worthy post! If you see a another flurry fall out of the sky and hear a simultaneous knock at your door..it's us! |
