| Who's Your Light? |
|
| |
Who is your light? As we walk through this dark world what can we do to light the way? Candles burn out and flashlights grow Dem. In Genesis The Lord gives us the sun by day and moon by night. I believe that the sun is like Jesus The Son of God and The Church is the moon. You see the moon don't have light of it own but reflects the sun light. We the Church don't have light of our own but we reflects Jesus light. 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years: 1:15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 1:16 And God made the two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: `he made' the stars also. 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth, 1:18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. Who will light your way? I believe that Jesus will light your path. With his words and love. 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And light unto my path.
The nature of Chanukah has to do with the eternal light in the Temple and synagogue today. God had made a great miracle on the occasion when Antiochus entered the Temple and sacrifced a sow on the alter. The Macabees ( The Hammer) threw him out but found only one precious can of consecrated oil -a day's supply-with which to maintain the eternal light. A great miracle answered their prayers, the oil lasted eight days and sustained the light until more was ready. And so the Jews still light a candle each night of the feast of Chanukah. Chanukah took place in 165 B.C. when the Temple was rededicated. Was Jesus that light? It is said that our bodies are our Temple and we need to clean out our sows and let Jesus be our consecrated oil and our eternal light. At Christmas we see many stars. They decorate homes and Christmas trees. The star is a symbol of Jesus, the star out of Jacob, the bright morning star. As the wise men follow the light of the great star it was leading them to the Greatest light of all Jesus. There is a legend about the Christmas tree, also called " Christ's tree", names Martin Luther as having come up with the idea for the first decorated Christmas tree. Walking home one night,he looked up and saw stars shining through the branches of an evergreen tree. The picture was so beautiful to him that he brought a tree into his home and fastened candles to its branches,re-creating the scene from outside. I like this one because my sister is from Germany. I believe that all these lights point to the Eternal Light of Jesus The Christ. So who is your light? |

| Beautiful! It really is...we are the moon! I like that. You also make me think of that song, "give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning.." or "Give me gas in my Ford, keep me trucking for the Lord." Or is that just for us country redneck folk? but seriously, Doyle, this is really fantastic. |

| Great post, Doyle! |

| Good blog Doyle! I certainly lived long enough w/o light. Now I have some light, and it's increasing. I am determined to hang close to the light source, thus guaranteeing it. Remember when Moses came down from the mountain with his face glowing? That's how I feel. ~mike |

This is What Jesus Says! 8:12 Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life. 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness. Therefore folks I have no doubt in my mind that Jesus Christ is the light of the world. Once I become HIS disciple, I have his comfort in the following verse: 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Have a blessed day |

| Hi, Doyle--I like what you said about comparing the moon to the church--how we're supposed to reflect the light of Jesus. |

| I agree with you. On a similar note, I always like asking people (works best at night) how they look at the moon. As for myself, for so long it was just a white, sometimes yellow object that changed shapes....for some odd reason ;) And then when I stood there and really looked at the moon, especially if it is a crescent shape or something else, and you really see the moon and how the light of the sun is casting off of the surface othe moon it is such a awe inspiring perspective....so different. Kind of like when you are hanging around a co-worker for so long and it is always their character or personality that precedes them but you've never really look at all of their facial features and for just a second they are a new person. I just love asking people how people how they "see" the moon, because I find that more often than not, they haven't even looked at the moon in that "light". :) maybe it is the same with someone who doesnt know Jesus yet. :) Thanks Doyle, catch you later! | |
