| | Day 28 Current mood: bouncy Category: Religion and Philosophy The reading for day 28 was 2Kings 16:1-25:30. This portion of scripture covers the last kings of both Israel and Judah. In chapter 17 Israel is sent into exile becasue their sins have piled up before God. He brings upon them the curses from Deuteronomy that he says he will if they do not obey his word. God is faithful to his word. Verse 18 says, "So the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them from his presence..." Sounds kinda like Revelation where he threatens to remove the lampstands of some of the churches from his presence. I wonder what would happen to the church whose lampstand is removed? Would they go into exile? Are some already in exile? If I was a king, I would want said of me, as it is said of Josiah in chapter 23, "Neither before or after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did - with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with the Law of Moses." Except for maybe the Law of Moses part . Read the things he did in chapters 22 and 23. When you read about God in the Old Testament, does He fit the image that you try to project to others about him? |
