| Remember The Lonely In Your Busyness |
|
| |
Often times we get so busy with all of the hustle and bustle of Christmas that we can soon forget that there are numerous lonely people out there in this world. Having grown up with 5 brothers and sisters and almost always seem to be around people, loneliness is not an emotion that I have felt too often. But about 10 years ago I was told that I would be in the hospital for a few months due to pregnancy complications. What a rude awaking! A lot of visitors came the first week, but they soon faded. And this left me experiencing loneliness for the first time in my life. I never knew what it was like for someone to be left alone during the holidays. I was in the hospital for Easter and Mother's Day, and everyone was just too busy to visit. After all, they had this and that to attend and they had already visited Sue in the first week. I am not writing this to throw a pity party, but to tell my story of how God changed my way of thinking in a powerful way.
The tree, the presents, the wrapping, the parties, the bills....help!!! We have so much to do that we can't even think straight. But please don't forget that there is someone somewhere who has no one, no gift, no visitor, no tree, no hustle, and no bustle. And they sure could use a touch of God via a visit from you! Have a blessed Christmas and don't forget to bless someone else!
Gotta go!! I am busy again. No more loneliness around here....
Lord show us how to help the helpless; and to visit the lonely and the sick. For in doing so, we have done it unto You.
25:35 for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 25:36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' 25:37 Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? 25:38 And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? 25:39 And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?' 25:40 And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'

Sue Thank you for the reminder, not only does it help to be with family but it can make you feel so much better if you share your love with those who have no one or are in the same perdicament you found yourself in that year.
Bless you and I hope you have a wonderful day, and thanks again for sharing. |

Excellent Blog Sue
Even if I can't get there a card a phone call will alway let them know you care, and I love them, and for those I don't know I give to outreaches. |

| To be blunt, since my mom passed away I don't really do much with the holidays. |

| Thanks for the powerful message. |

David, maybe a few visits to shut-ins to bring the holidays to them might perk up your own holiday spirit? That ol' spirit of giving has a way of warming the heart. Just an idea. I pray you find plenty of joy this Christmas.
Good thoughts Sue! ~mike |

Hi Sue, The Lord always taught us and explained to us 'how to love our neighbour'. Great thought for the Christmas season. Let me see how this can be put to practise. Thanks for the reminder. |

| Great message, Sue! Christmas is the happiest and the saddest time of the year, and for those who are lonely and/or grieving, it can be almost unbearable. The smallest gesture may brighten someone's entire Christmas season! In Jesus' eyes, that visit is probably more important than all the busy things we "have to" do, and it's His birthday, so we should listen to Him! |

Thanks for the important reminder, Sue. As i was reading this a few people came to mind that may not have otherwise. I'm going to make it a point to stretch myself just a wee bit further. |

Thank you all for your comments and stars.
Right on Kathy! It is a very rude awakening when you find yourself experiencing these things you had only heard people talk about. And it is very easy to fell sorry for yourself when you are bed-ridden and can't even stand up :) I went to the gym that morning and had plans to go to the grocery store that afternoon, the next thing I knew I was flat on my back for 9 straight weeks! Very lonely and depressing.
Birdie: Your comment is perfect and the one thing I hope for when I type up a post like this. Awesome! Thanks! |
