Today we are talking about the 9th Commandment, You shall not lie! 92% of American adults say they lie often. How many lies do you have to tell to be a liar? The same amount of murders you need to committ to be a murder and the same of times you need to have adultery to be an adulterer. ONE!

This weekend my wife Melanie and I went to apartment complex to preach the gospel near our church. We met a sweet Hispanic lady Candy and her sweet 14 yr. old daughter Dayanara. They were sweet, kind ladies that wouldn't hurt a flea. When I asked them if they have ever lied, told a half truth, told a white lie, or been deceptive, they took a hard gulp and humbly said yes. I asked her, "What would that make you?", and she said a LIAR. She said that not me. I didn't scream at them. I didn't point my finger in their face. I just used the law which is perfect to convert the soul.(Psalm 19:7) They invited us in and we held hands and prayed and they asked Jesus to come into their life and be their Lord. (Praise God. It was so exciting)

That's how you can use this commandment to prepare them for Christ. You can show them that lying is on the same list as murder, sexual immorality, and the like and the Bible warns that liars will have their part in the second death, the lake of fire. They may not think deceitfullness is a serious sin but God does. They will see their need to repent and run to the Savior.
