"For what success can be achieved from causing others pain?"

Well....we've heard of the corporate ladder, haven't we? :-)  The essence of the world's definition of success causes others pain. That's the idea behind competition. One winner, or perhaps a few, with many losers. Thank God for the Gospel, we can all be winners (successful)!

Wow Lara! I have not listened to Creed in years!

"With Arms Wide Open" used to be one of my favorite songs!

I may have to go download that now that you mention it!

Lara, I have heard that Creed is sort of "closet Christian", is that not so? (Sorry Michael, off topic)

Mike, great comment. Thank God for the Gospel!

I have been spending some time in Ecllesiates lately. I like this verse found in chapter 9, verse 11:

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

I was thinking that Creed was a Christian band also.

Yesterday I wrote this little poem after pondering on how many people are focused entirely on self. Then this morning as I was parking my car at the train station I saw the following:

God truly amazes me!

Cobb County, eh?  I used to live in Kennesaw.

Kennesaw, eh? Imagine that!

There's a great catfish house in Kennesaw, can't remember the name. Do you know of it?

No catfish for this cat!  I'll bet the place wasn't there when I was (1975/76).  It was a pretty small town back then, at least to my fuzzy remembrance.

It's growing like wildfire now Jen.

I actually live in Dekalb County, right near Perimeter Mall.....was that here in '76?

There wasn't any malls there at all back then, I don't think.  I don't recall ever going to one close to home.  Seems like to go to a mall we had to go to/on Peachtree.  I don't know if that was the name of the mall; I know there is a street or boulevard there by that name, right?
December 15, 2007
Laughing.....yeah Jen......we have a Peachtree Street....in fact, at last count there something like 235 roads in Atlanta with the name Peachtree.......we feel like tourists will spend more if they're confused....always stopping to ask directions!

You probable went to Lenox Mall

Re-reading my last comment:  grammar mistake!  Should read:  There weren't any malls...

Lenox Mall doesn't sound familiar, but I don't like malls, so it's very likely I've blocked the name of it out of my brain!  :-)

Wow Cheryl......I am honored that you think that much of me to include me and my story.....You are da bomb! Wait a minute! Bombs are destructive (watch your tongue Michael). You're not the bomb! You are the opposite of bomb. You are the anti-bomb! Bombless. unBOMBenable!

I think you get the idea.

What I am trying to say is THANK YOU!

God knows everything that we have need of before we ever even think about it ourselves. He says for us to lat up in store in Heaven and He well take care of our needs. In the book of Matt. 6;19 He says Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and thieves do break in and steal. 21 for where your treasure is , there your heart well be also. This goes with your poem brother , don't Use you brother as a rung in your ladder to success because you well never be happy with all the riches and success you might gain.

   Thank you brother

Awesome, Michael! so beautiful put!!!!

I use to listen to Creed when i came into recovery, thinking they were a Christian band

"Based on their frequently spiritual lyrics, some observers lumped them in with a new breed of alternative-styled Christian bands that had begun crossing over to the mainstream; however, Creed tried to distance themselves from being pigeonholed as an exclusively religious band out to convert their listeners. "

Stapp had been studying law at Florida State University, but eventually dropped out to pursue music, a decision that led to conflict with his anti-rock & roll parents (his father was a Pentecostal minister).

I love thier one Album  Human Clay it gave me HOPE when I first came into recovery in 1999

ANYWAYS I loved the Poem and got such great insight from it Thank you Michael!!!

Hi Donna!

Thank you for your kind words. I too listened to a lot of Creed. In fact, now that you mention them I may have to go back and re-listen now that I have a more solid foundation. I just found a website that contains all of their lyrics. Looks like I have some IPOD uploading to do!

Might as well plug a couple others, eh? If you like this poem you would probably also enjoy these:

The Pain of Jabez

Hell Is Not That Hot

Life Threw Me a Curve

Weeds of Seeds

Donna:

I now have 29 Creed songs loaded on my MP3 player!

These are going to make some great "unwind" tunes when I am riding the train home from work!
