| Day 30 |
|
| |
| | The reading for day 30 was 1Chronicles 10:1-23:32. Some of this is repeat material, but there is some good new stuff too . In chapter 16 we have David's beautiful psalm of thanks to God. I think one of the themes of this psalm is God's name becoming famous throughout the world, "He is the Lord our God; his judgements are in all the earth...Sing to the Lord all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples...Ascribe to the Lord, O families of nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength, ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name...Tremble before him all the earth!...let them say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns!'." Do you think God wants everyone to know who he is and be worshipped by all? Crazy thought for you here...I think that God used the captivity of his people to "Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples." Otherwise, why would they need to "Cry out, 'Save us, O God our Savior; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, that we may glory in your praise.'? Could we serve God better as captives or exiles or free people? What do you think? |
