Hell Is Not That Hot
Pop pills, seek thrills, lusting for the fame God who? Screw you. Don’t bow to any name. Snort coke, drink beer, smoke a little pot Who’s God? Where’s God? Hell is not that hot.
Livin large, me in charge, all about the game I am great, no debate, don’t believe in shame Running wild with flower child, Makin’ love, not war Get high, get by, that’s what life is for.
No hope, need dope, cannot stand the pain Always high, wanna die, come on acid rain Snort coke, drink beer, smoke a little pot Who’s God? Where’s God? Hell is not that hot.
Lifeless, unemployed, livin' on the street Ruthless, careless, starting to feel heat. No friends, no ends, beggin' for a meal Need a hit, can’t get it, gotta cheat and steal.
Locked up, facing time, bouncing off this cell Cryin out, without a doubt, I’m going straight to hell 20 years, I’m in tears, can’t believe the deal Need God. Where’s God? God are you for real?
Found the Word, flipped a page, lookin for a verse Jesus lived, then he died, freed me from the curse Bowed a knee, cried a plea, searchin' for some love Somethin' broke, ain’t no joke, presence of a dove
Set free, new me, brand new chance at life Out of jail, free from hell, givin’ you advice Seek the Lord, all your heart, no need to understand Seek Him, serve Him, reach out and take His hand.
No pills, simple thrills, free from guilt and shame God you came through. Name above all names! Diet coke, root beer, shrimp boiling in the pot What a God! An Awesome God! My past he has forgot!

| AWSOME!!!!! I may have to use it in a message Thanks. |
Thanks Pastor Elam!
God woke me up in the miidle of last night to write this!
Use it all you want.....as you well know.....anything that comes from God is a free gift!
Thank you! |
| Michael-Love it! Great testimony! I also love the part anything that comes from God is free to others. People charging for worship, messages in a book form, CD's....Yikes! |
| Great Testimony! I think that hell could be so cold without God's love that it burns life fire like dry ice. |
Thanks Jeff!
Hey Jeff, I will send you a printed version of this poem, printed on the same material that was used in printing movie tickets for The Passion of the christ, sprinkled with Holy oil, for a donation of any amount. If you order one for your neighbor too, your personal version will come with parched paper, burnt on the corners, suitable for framing!
You know I'm kidding!
God is free and so is his word! |
| Come on brother! Preach it! |

| Michael this is awesome! First blog of the day for me today! Thanks for getting me started with a bang. |
I love this, Michael. Just straight up truth. Raw with no additives. Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony! God bless ya big, bro.
BTW, if I order a pack of 25, can I get personal prophecy with that? |
Thanks Doyle.....Hell cold without God....I have no doubt!
Morning Charlie! Glad you enjoyed! I read your schedule BTW....wow....you are one busy man!
Don - Thanks brother! - And for an order of 25, not only will you receive a personal prophecy, but I will include a small figurine, modeled after a realprison cell, you can even peak in between the bars and see a itty bitty bible laying on the cot! It is mounted on top of an ivory like stand with your own name engraved vertically. This is a very limited offer.....Better act fast! |
Man! Now that is poem writing! I have read alot of poems on here, but this one far exeeds them all! I can see us being inspired by this when we write our next song! Shannon |
Wow Shannon! That was an awesome compliment!
Coming from you makes it even more special! As I was writing this I had visions of it being sang in rap style. I'd love to hear you rappin' this! |
| Well, I am not a rapper. The only white rapper I know that could do this is Lyracist, or secular artist Eminem. Maybe we can get Lara Leger to do it possibly! LOL! We are more a christian rock/contemporary band. |
Come on Shannon.....you can do it!
Step out on the limb, away from the trunk. Yes it's uneasy at times, especially in high winds, but that's where the fruit is!
You know I am teasing you! I see fruit all over your life already! |
| Just a personal taste thing...rap makes me want to break things. As I read this poem, I was thinking 'lyrics' too, but in my head was hearing a medium tempo drivin' blues/boogie, played dirty. Kinda Canned Heat or Billy Ray Vaughn style. Eh? |
Rap doesn't appeal to me either Don.....I guess I was considering the audience that may benefit from such a song!
I like your idea much mo' betta though! |
| Maybe with some bottleneck leads? |
| What are you try'n to say? U stereo-typ'n rap music? |
I knew that was coming Shannon......I won't give anything but personal testimony in regards to that question: When I was in the world and doing drugs...I was listening to rap music......take it as you may!
| Well, I was teas'n. I was living on the edge too, but listening to heavy metal. There's no discrimination there. |
| Shannon I still like some heavy metal. There are some great Christian rock bands......I have been listening to Kutless for a couple of weeks now......there's one song, "no turning back" that speaks volumes to me! I plug in my earbuds after work while riding the train home and rock out! |

Michael, you wrote this last night? In one night?? As in, in less than a week???? Wow, I'm in awe. I've said it before, I'm blown away by the talent of people who can rhyme.
Since folks brought up music, Yes these sound like lyrics to me. Bob Dylan actually came to my mind as I read the first stanza. Then the second, with its mention of "flower child" was like a giant confirmation! lol
Dude, you have talent, and a great heart. I seriously dig this Michael. God bless! ~mike ps...One star ain't enough. |
Jen!
You never write, you never call. What? are we breaking up?
Just kidding, thanks for the visit. Is your physical address the same as your billng address? There seems to be some sort of problem with your credit card. Do you have another card number you can send me?
Oh yeah.....did you happen to catch my blog about living in the Target parking lot? |

What's up Top Ten? (Mike)

| This is great Michael!!! I think we can all heartily say an "AMEN" to that! |
| How offensive! All those references to pot and acid and all that stuff! And using the words "screw you"? I am offended! NOT! lol You had to know I was joking. You can't shock the shocker. This is raw, and rough around the edges languistically (as so many of us are), but really good. You really do seem to get inside your head (pre-Christ). It really is like that. This is good, like always, and especially for those still lost. They could read it and totally relate. I know at one time, i sure could. |

Hi Lara!
That was the intent. It wasn't meant to be a feel good message. It was meant to show that there are many, many people in this world who struggle with these very things. I realize that some of the language is a little harsh, but it's actually quite mild in comparison to the reality that the lost are living in.
Most of this is a testimony of my own life, but not all. Some have congratulated me for coming through. I juts want to say for the record, that this story isn't necessarily about me. Especially the prison part. But if you really stop and think about it. We were all in bondage, or prison so-to-speak before we allowed Jesus into our hearts.
Thanks for your comments. |

| Who's the guy in the picture? |
Hi Shannon!
The guy in the picture is a brand new creation. He is the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. He is Christ's ambassador. He is more than a conqueror. He is a peculiar person. A royal priest. He is blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly realms!
Does that answer your question? |

Michael, I love your verse. Thanks for sharing with us - and reminding us. |

Michael,
I haven't really been on the blog section of the mychurch website until today. I just set up an account for our church a few months ago. But, now I wish I had read some of the entries even sooner! I saw you had made a comment on the first blog I read, so I followed the link to your blogs, and now I've read "A Picture of Christ" and then this...amazing. You have a great talent for speaking from your heart and showing us all what Christ's true power can really do in a life. Keep it up!!!
Blessings, ><> ~The Chad |

| I really like this. You are a wonderful writer. It's awesome and speaks so much. |
Wow Chad. Thanks my brother.
That was an encouraging word!
God definitely speaks through the hearts of His people. While I do appreciate your kind words, I personally cannot take the credit. He has done an amazing work in me and will continue until the day of Christ's return.
Undoubtedly, you will be blessed by many on this site. I have grown tremendously as a result of reading blog entries posted by the brethren represented here.
Nice meeting you! |
Thank you Cyndy!
I am glad that you heard the voice of God through my poem! |

| Hey, I still like this! hehe |
| Very inspired, was not sure about what you were writting about at first, then I caught on, yep, I have a hard head.... |
Hi Gary......kinda caught you off guard on those first few opening lines, eh?
I know it's raw but it speaks volumes about where a lot of lost people are today and where the answer to their situation lies!
Thanks for tuning in! |
