| Another "God Thing" |

You know, I hate every other weekend. I absolutely hate watching my children leave to go with their dad every other weekend. It's all just so wrong.
So, this is another "daddy weekend". He came to get them this morning.
I woke up just hating it -- yes - I know I am using the word hate an awful lot - but after all, "God hates divorce". Anyway I tried to put on a happy face and enjoy the first part of the morning with my children before he came.
About 9:30, when he came to get them, I went outside in the driveway to help him get everything loaded up, and another car pulled up. It was a friend of mine that I only see a couple of times a year, but we are both in the same Christian sewing e-mail group (along with over 1,600 other women from around the world). She gave me a box and said that it's from someone else in our group who wanted to be a "secret Santa" to me, so she sent it to my friend so she could deliver it to me since we live in the same town.
What amazing timing -- it's my most gut wrenching part of the weekend, and here she came with a gift for me.
I opened the box and on the top was a fabric stocking panel to make a Thomas the Tank Engine stocking. What NO ONE could have had any way of knowing was that Timothy's stocking is lost and I wanted to make him a Thomas stocking, but I could not find the fabric ANYWHERE! I have looked for it everywhere and couldn't find it.
Underneath the fabric was a gorgeous collectible doll signed by my "sewing hero", Martha Pullen. She publishes a sewing magazine and has a sewing show on PBS and this doll is one of her dolls and is hand signed by her.
For the second time this week, I was speechless at what God has done for me. It's more than the GORGEOUS collectible doll and stocking that I had been looking for everywhere -- it's how God put it all together. To have my friend show up at that very gut wrenching moment for me - and to give me the gift then -- isn't it amazing?
Oh, by the way - don't worry Teresa -- I'll try to stop playing with my new dolly long enough to do that embroidering for you! <smile> |
