| Day 31 |
|
| |
| | The reading for day 31 was 1Chronicles 24:1 - 2Chronicles 7:22. What is the significance of the number 24? There were 24 divisions of priests, 24 divisions of the musicians, there were 12 each of the army officers, tribal leaders, and kings officials. Each officer had charge over 24,000 men. I don't know if this has any connection or not to the 24 elders in Revelation...what do you think? Look at verses 16-22 of chapter 27. Can you tell me what is weird about the list of tribes? There is a weird list of tribes in Revelation too. Have you ever wanted an example of someone praising God? What images does that bring to your mind? Raised hands? Joyful shouting? Uncontrollable tears? In verse 10:20 of chapter 29 we have a very interesting example: "Then David said to the whole assembly, 'Praise the Lord your God.' So they all praised the Lord, the God of their fathers; they bowed low and fell prostrate before the Lord and the king." What do you think of the praise we give in light of this verse? How often do we hear 2Chronicles 7:14 quoted to us without the person quoting knowing the context of the verse? We should read it in light of verses 12 and 13 which, in turn, should be read in light of all of chapter 6. Go back and read it again. What do you think it means? |
