Excellent blog Michael.  I am someone who never liked to get her hopes up because it always led to disappointment.  But if our hopes rest in Jesus, we won't be disappointed.  My disappointment came from man...but God is there, always.

When I started applying the 12 steps to myself, I did so in a "Step Study", where about 6 of us got together and studies the steps.

As we were working through this, the study material had an interesting question: "In what ways to you expect God to heal you as you work through the steps". The only answer I could honestly give was "I expect God to be God".

I've kept working the steps, though, and God has come through tremendously.  I've gained so much peace inside.

As I've said elsewhere, "Hope floats."  Where there is hope, there is a natural buoyancy that keeps making it rise up to the surface, again and again.  I love reading Psalms for that very reason!  In my quiet time, Psalms are the last thing I read; kinda like my "dessert".  I love coming across the word hope in the Word!  So encouraging!!  Thanks for an extra "dessert" today, Michael!

Hey Restore! - I love that song! - He is my Rock! - He's my Solid Foundation!

Hi Deb - Great comment. I too have been let down by man many times. But The Lord has never once failed me or forsaken me! - Just like he promised!

Jess, good to see you my friend! - I just can't help but sing this in response to your comment. -
"On the twelfth step of recovery God gave to me, Amazing inner peace!"

Jen - Hope Floats! - That's a entirely new way of seeing that term for me. Thanks! - I am hearing you on the "dessert" thing. If the Psalms are dessert, then Proverbs are breakfast! - I read Proverbs every morning. With 31 chapters is works out wonderfully to read the chapter that corresponds with the day of the month! - Thanks for your input!

Hello Kim (Overcomer) - What a great testimony! Praise God! - I am so very happy for you. It seems like you really got blessed today! - Keep those hopes up! You never know what he has in store for you!

I love you guys. Thanks for the great responses!

I just read this too. God has been working in a area of my life that I have been hurt by man.  He lead me to verses today to remind me to rest in Him.  This part touched my heart:
Acts 2:26
No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises!
My body rests in hope.

Also my life is still being rebuilt from a disaster of divorce, the death of a child I wanted with all my heart, my other child being hurt, etc, etc......  HURTS FROM MAN, NOT GOD  This verse was a reminder:
Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

I have prayed this over my daughter and myself~  Thanks Michael for the reminder through this blog! Big Smile We serve a BIG God!

Very encouraging blog!

Michael, I'm glad you got your hope restored and things did get better for you. It's also great you were able to use the "stuff" you'd been through to help others get their hopes up high and hope deferred is an excellent way to put it! Thanks for reminding us that we indeed, can have high hopes and have our hope restored.
