Good move Dave...wouldn't want Dexter taking out frustrations on the tree.

Simple is always good.  Read some of the John Michael Talbot items that get posted here. He lives a life of intimacy and it is hard for him sometimes, too.  God has put you in this place in your life. You are wise not to clutter it with things of this world. He will fill the time with things that bring pure joy. Watch and see what the Lord will do.

Don't feel lonely I have been single for 8 years, didn't even have a tree but did a little decorating. The high point was seeing my three grand sons opening their presents. The youngest loves spiderman and got a pair of plastic spiderman rollerskate and was in hog heaven.I never laughed so hard. But that's what Christmas is about, the child and the children.I love you dear friend.Whatever he has in store for you will be unveiled very soon.

Holy Spirit, Open Dave's heart to any new work you would choose to do through him,In Jesus name I ask this. Amen

Dave, sounds more like Douglas the Pestering Fur! lol

Simple is good - yet simple is so elusive! I think Satan is more than happy to fill our lives with "good" things, as long as they serve to distract us from the true Giver. God bless ya, Dave. And thanks for sharing your walk with us (me).  ~mike

Whew when I first read this i froze cause I thought my cousin Douglas had escaped from jail. We used to call him Douglas the Talkin Fur, cause he could "throw" his voice and make it sound like it was coming from the other side of the room. Used to entertain us for hours. He's entertainin his buddies in jail now tho... in there for armed robbery using his 3 huntin dogs. He didn't do it tho, the dogs got loose and bit the store clerk... clerk fell over and hit the cash drawer on the way down... drawer came open... and cousin Douglas took the money out so nothin would happen to it while he called the ambulance. But his cell phone didn't work so he had to drive all the way home to call for help.  But once he got there he figured it had took so long that the man was probably fine by now.... the judge didn't buy that story and threw the book at Douglas (litterally and figurativly)

Dave, I am hearing you loud and clear.

I too am single and also spent the Holidays alone. I opted to fast through Thanksgiving and right now I am on the 7th day of a 10 day fast. Christmas was lonely, in the physical sense, but Praise God I had some very intimate time alone with my Savior. What a way to spend his birthday, right? One-on-one time!

Bless you brother!

Yes, singleness has its perks. My little tree was up in 10 minutes, but I'll get it back in the box after New Years. You have a good one and enjoy the intamacy with Christ like I do.

What's wrong with Billy the Talking Bass?  I may be old school but Billy had a Santa cap and everything!

Dave, hang in there.  My Christmas was with family and family and family.  It was waaaaaaaaaay busy and I had little time to reflect on the reason for the season.  My prayer for you is that you can use your time to gain that intimacy with God you're looking for and devote your free time to service in Christ's name.  Not being single has it's pluses but free time is not one of those.

Peace!
And Happy New Year!

Dave, have a happy and blessed New Year!  My family and I didn't decorate much, we put up our tree with all the decorations, but within a week our kitten had succeeded in convincing us that the only decorations the tree needed was her. lol.  My daughter is taking the tree down today.  Like Gene, our holiday was extremely busy, so I too, did not have much time to reflect on Jesus.
Stay focused on Jesus!
Blessings,
Prudence  :)

Wow Dave,
I don't know which part was more disturbing, talking ti a plastic tree, or MP's story about his cousin. I wonder if he waas going to split the loot with the dogs? BTW, did you ever hear the story about the old lady who bought a parrot to keep her company?

Sometimes, it is in the quite moments with Christ that you find the most rewarding moments.

I MISSED ALL THE FUN A TALKIN TREE AND A STORE ROBBIN KUZIN.....OH WELL HAPPY NEW YEAR.......
WISH IT WOULD HAVE ONLY TOOK 5 MINUTES TO TAKE EVERY THING DOWN HERE ESPECIALLY THE LIGHTS ALTHOUGH IT DID GIVE ME ANOTHER CHANCE TO SCREAM FROM THE ROOF TOP AND OF COURSE I TOOK IT...... THIS TIME I MADE SURE NO ONE WAS OUT SIDE......

My decorating will take more than 5 minutes to take down. As for Douglas the Talking Fur--it was funny on the shelf at the store or at someone else's house, but to have to listen to it at home-- I shudder at the thought.
