| Our move to East TN 5 ½ years ago was our 9th move in at the time, 15 years of marriage. Since I left the military in 1996 – and at each subsequent move - it was always a challenge for me to find a barber that would do a good job on my hair. Well the Lord has always provided as I have been able to locate the ONE barber in my new area that fit that criteria. J Going to the barbershop has always been a pleasant experience for me. It is always a great time of fellowship and fun. One can usually find the answers to all the world’s problems by conversing with the gentlemen that hang at the shop. J The gentleman that has been cutting my hair for the last 5 ½ years is a great man of God and a wonderful witness. God led him out of some serious darkness into His marvelous light. Anyway, when this story came across my email I just had to share it. It has a wonderful message and the story is set in one of my most favorite places to hang out. The barbershop! A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: 'I don't believe that God exists.'
'Why do you say that?' asked the customer. 'Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine loving a God who would allow all of these things.'
The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and un-kept.
The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: 'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'
'How can you say that?' asked the surprised barber. 'I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!'
'No!' the customer exclaimed. 'Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside.'
'Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is, people do not come to me.'
'Exactly!'- affirmed the customer. 'That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world.'
Be Blessed so that You can be a blessing!

| Charlie, that is an awesome story. God laid it heavy on my heart to reach out to the men in my community. I asked him to provide for me the opportunities to do so. The next time I went into the barbershop. My barber started to ask me about what I do for a living. This led to a two hour conversation in which I was able to share the gospel with about twenty men. We talked about every subject you could imagine. It was awesome and totally unexpected. When I got into my van to leave, I was reminded of the conversation I had had earlier with God. I love the barbershop. It has become my second mission field. |

Charlie,
As an ex-hairstylist, I can relate to the barbershop experience. My clientele was awesome and I looked forward to being a part of their lives every six weeks. Thanks for sharing this story, it brought back a lot of great memories for me. Brandi |

This reminds me of the story about the professor who said there was no God because there was so much suffering in the world. And, the student who said there is no such thing as cold - there is only the absence of heat.
Keep writing us, Charlie! Happy Friday! |
