Let me ask you a question. A very personal question. Some may feel uneasy at this questions; others won't mind. Either way, I must ask this one question.
How Do You See Yourself?
It was about eleven this morning when I found myself pushing my body to workout on the Nautilus Olymptical Machine in the gym. I felt good. I felt as if I had tons of energy. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I suddenly heard God speaking to me. He asked me a question. A simple yet somehow complexed question. Do you see who I have created you to be? And without uttering words, in my spirit, I answered "Yes, Lord".
I ask you this one question today, because how you see yourself will determine how you see others. This could be a positive or negative answer, but please allow me to throw in another statement. How you see God will determine how you see yourself.
Do you see it now? You aspect on who God is to you will help you see your true self....who He made you to be. That is why we must be careful when taking other people's advise on who we are. God will speak in many ways (through His word, His people, and through the Holy Spirit), but how you loook at Him matters.
Let me put in into perspective. When Christ was born, the angels confirmed who He was. Mind you that the Kings and Wise Men acknowledged it, but the angels confirmed it. When He was baptized, He was acknowledged by John the Baptist, but God confirmed it. When He was crucified, He acknowledged who His Father was, and His Father confirmed it by giving Him power over death. (I know it is a different perspective, but please bear with me.)
I am absolutely positive that Jesus did not struggle with His identity, but He needed God to confirm it. That is why He got alone with God many times. When one spends time with God, and acknowledge that Spirit with him, then God will speak. When one sees the man or woman that he or she is created to be, then the possibilities are unlimited. Dreams can be birthed. Families can be mended. Nations can be changed. More importantly, there can be salvations. You may ask how.
When one has a positive viewpoint of God, they know everything that He is and who He can be. From thier provider to thier shelter.
When one recognizes who they are in Christ, and the person they are made to be, then they feel the empowerment of the Holy Ghost and they can see out of faith not sight.
This in result, will cause one to look at complete strangers or family members as potential to be used by God. Because they would recognize who God has been to them and they know that God is not limited to just one person.
So let me ask you again, How Do You See Yourself?
Maybe you are discouraged and disappointed. Maybe all you see are the failures and the heartaches that have occurred throughout the years. Now is the time to draw closer to God and to see Him as who He is. He is Love. In His presence is Peace and Joy. In your weakness, He is your strength. Do not wait until tomorrow, but draw close to Him now. He will talk to you as long as you are willing to listen. Afterall, the only reason why we were created was to fellowship with Him.
Trust in Him again.

ADDITION (also in comments)
Please let me make this comment. This blog isn't just about physical weight. It is about whether or not we see ourselves as that person God wants us to be. Example, when David was announced and anointed by Samuel that he was going to be King, do you think that he saw himself as a king? Maybe yes, maybe not; however I am most certain that he had a day and a time where he was struggling with this destiny God has told him and God said "Do You See Yourself?" David replied "yes" and went to go kill Goliath. For you see, when we finally see that person God has made us to be, then we can do ANYTHING! |
