| Letting Go and Moving Forward |
|
| |
I've wanted to blog about this for some time but found it difficult because I realized that lots of people would actually read it. :) And it's not that I didn't want to share with everyone, but sometimes I realize what a private person I really am. Either way I hope this is encouraging especially if you are going through a transition in your life. This past year has been more exciting and growth-filled (both personally and professionally) that any year of my life. This is true mainly because of MyChurch. Before MyChurch I had a fairly normal setup. I had a normal job with friends that all looked like me. I had this idea of what my life would look like and I made all the elements around me work for this idea. It wasn't really until last year though that I believe God wanted me to start letting go. Joe and I realized that we can't shape our lives around our timing. It became more about His timing and how to shape our lives around it. When this past fall rolled around, we knew God was telling us that it was time to let go of more. Financially we needed to cut our living costs significantly to continue on with MyChurch and personally I wanted to be closer to my parents and extended family. After much prayer both privately and with friends, it was clear. We put our house on the market and miraculously it sold within a month. Before finding our new home, we've been staying with my parents, re-adjusting to life in SoCal, and building new roots with new friends and a new church. Even though it has been hard (we especially miss our old small group), letting go of all that was familiar and comfortable has allowed us to grow in faith more than we could've ever imagined. We've met amazing brothers and sisters and had opportunities to share our faith with family. We've found new disciplines, both physical and emotional, that we didn't know we had. Our marriage and foundation in Christ continues to be tested and refined. And I think this idea really extends to so many parts of our lives. Moving forward in everything we do requires letting go of our previous expectations. And we've found God can and will do great things when you find new ways to trust Him. If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Be moved from this place to that; and it will be moved; and nothing will be impossible to you. Happy New Year Friends!! Hugs to you all! :) |

All of creation groans knowing life is"...more about His timing and how to shape our lives around it..."
You are impacting the world by building for His kingdom. The walk is hard, even lonely at times, but the prize is great. Stand strong Joe and Carol. Stand strong. When you have done all you know how to do, stand...and remember...
10:9 I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture. 10:10 The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have `it' abundantly.

| Change is a necessary part of life, and I believe it keeps us growing. We tend to fight it, but if we just go with it, it usually ends up bringing us closer to God and allowing us to grow spiritually. I hope you have a most blessed 2008! |

Prayers for you and Joe and MyChurch! What a blessing you are, and how blessed to be used by God in such a way as you are!
9:58 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head."

I have 5 words which I have held close to me last year and they are ... Let Go and Let God |
|
|
Often it is hard to let go because we are comfortable (even when we are uncomfortable) in our present environment 8-). Change is unfamiliar and as human beings we do not look forward to change. But when we put our trust in the Master's Hand our lives WILL change. In fact we are change-agents. Thanks for sharing! God Bless/peace and blessings.... |
|
|
| Isn't it something we have to do each day It seems when we are growing in Jesus we find something everyday we need to let go of andsomething new to cling to some new insigth on a verse we have seen just not in quite the same light something new to learn how to live for Jesus. |
