The Greatest Romance Ever
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Romance. Passion. Fire. Candles. Music. Dancing. Lost inside of each other. Time standing still. Love. Security. Acceptance. Peace. Joy.
These words describe what society defines as Romance. For the past few days, I have felt God putting "romance" on my heart...not because of Valentine's Day (which is in a few weeks), but because He is trying to show me something. Here is what He said to me last night:
Dwell in the romance that I have for you. Come find the passion within Into the depths of my heart Love awaits you I am waiting for you Over the next few days...weeks...or whenever He wants me to stop, I will be taking you with me on a journey of passion. Through a path of love. There will be romance. Though it may not be the romance that we as humans have defined, this will be the pathway that leads straight into the heart of God. For I have come down to the determination that nothing else matters except what is in His heart. I want to quote something that God once told me:
"This path that I have for you may seem tough. At times the nights will be so cold and dark, that you may think that I have forgotten you. You may stumble and fall. You may even begin to lose your way and focus. But always remember that I am with you, and I will see you through until the end...all because of My love." I am beginning to see why God created in me a heart after romance when I was young. It is because the path that He has created is a path of love...and love will always be that guide in the night. Love will always be that warmth in the cold. Love will always rescue the lost. Love will always strengthen the weary. In the end...it has always been about love. God's Love. The Greatest Romance Ever.
Until Next Time...

Joey,
Thanks for your comment. I am not exactly sure what God will have me write about, but I believe that no matter what...it will be good. Just because He is! ~Jeremy |

Great thoughts Jeremy. I love that God encompasses all of our concepts of love, Gregory of Nazianus said, "That which was not assumed is not healed; but that which is united to God is saved" . I believe srongly that this includes all that we are, emotion, love, empathy, all those things that allow the "romantic" to be manifest. Too bad we don't also have His sinlessness to clarify our failings in these areas, but that's why He is called Redeemer, and why the Holy Spirit is about the buisiness of healing, comforting, and perfecting. I pray that this year God will give you a gift for falling deeply, head over heels, in love with Him. May He also grant that this gift flows out, informs and enlightens, and brings healing to those around you, that you be like that "city on the hill" and shine with His glory. |

Dennis, Thank you for your comment. I have never heard of Mr. Gregory of Nazianus, but I will have to look him up. There are some things that God has been showing me which will be in upcoming blogs, but I will share one thought with you today.
These are the days of the romance between the Bride and the Bridegroom....these are the days where we as the church must fall back in love with Jesus. For there can be no wedding between the two, unless the Bride and the Bridegroom are passionately pursuing one another in a realm of pure and total romance.
I will write more about this in another blog! ~Jeremy

Jeremy, Gregory is part of a family of Bishops in the early church, he waas the theologian of the bunch. You might also look up the poetry of Ephriam the Syrian, he talks about some of those same longings, and his poetry tends to have a prophetic feel to it's tone. I'll look forward to see how God fleshes this out in your life. |
