I will do all ten commandments which are the first set of laws that I live my life by over anything else. The ten laws were given by God as guidelines for daily living. They are often called the Decalogue, from the Greek which means ten words.
Although God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses at Mount Sinai more than 3,000 years ago, they are still relevant today.
They have a abiding significance, for God's character is unchangeable.
Jesus placed these laws on a higher plane bydemanding the spiritual aspect as well as the legal. Jesus placed the eternal stamp of approval by sayingthe following words 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. God never intended for the TenCommandments to be a set of regulations to recieve salvation his favor was already granted to his chosen people. 4:37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt; God even prefaced te Ten Commandments with a remider of his deliverance 20:2 I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. The Ten Commandments are still revelant today. The world desperatley needs to see the name and character of God displayed in the lives of the Christians who still take his word seriously. These commandments along with the teachings of Christ are still the best guidelines for daily living.
1 You shall have no other gods before me.Ex 20:3 Since God's character forms the basis of the covenant with his people ,he demands total loyality. when the intent of the heart is to put God first, a personoutward actions will reveal it. Then others will see what God's character is like through his people. What do we put ahead of God? wealth, family, jobs, the American dreamor our own ambitions for Jesus said "seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all else will follow". |

Wonderful blog my friend...The Ten Commandments are STILL valid and good for TODAY.....Those that do not want to obey them want to continue in their sin and remain carnal
8:7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. But for those that are led by and walk by the Spirit of God, we know that...
7:7 What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin [was] dead. 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 7:10 And the commandment, which [was ordained] to life, I found [to be] unto death. 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew [me]. 7:12 Wherefore the law [is] holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Say Marjay, you skipped Romans 7:4-6...why's that? 7:4 Likewise, my brethren, you have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God. 7:5 While we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. 7:6 But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit. Dead to the law, discharged from the law...humm...doesn't seem to agree with what you guys are saying. When we walk by the Spirit we produce the fruit of the Spirit. When we walk by the flesh, trying to turn Christianity into a mere following of 10 rules + however many other rules we derived from the Gospels, then we find that we don't do the good that we want, but "our sinful passions, aroused by the law" produce the works of the flesh. The Law is and always was a tutor that was to lead us to Christ, not to itself. Their purpose is to "break" our self dependence and self-righteousness. You guys are going down the wrong path and if you won't learn by instruction then you'll suffer the consequences. Sincerely, Craig |
