| On Thursday, January 4, my mother was rushed to the emergency room as pneumonia had ravaged here already sick and weak body. She has struggled with a laundry list of rare medical problems over the years. The doctors quickly observed that, even if she made it through the night, that she would not make it through the weekend. She made it through the night. She made it through the weekend. She had a team of specialists caring for her as she went into septic shock - her body was shutting down fast. The doctors agreed that, at best, she had a 20% chance of survival. The doctors assured us that they would do everything they could for her but if she was going to survive they said it would literally take a miracle. My wife and I spent several evenings weeping together because doctors said to prepare ourselves to take her off life support and let her go. A week went by. Two weeks went by. A month went by. A month and a half have gone by. Today she is being transferred to a rehabilitation unit. The illness is gone. She is completely off any life support. She is talking, laughing, and now even eating. She has a long road of rehab as they try and get her muscles working - her left arm and both legs and basically paralyzed at this point still. They had told us she would never be making it home. We cried out to God. They said she had a chance of making it home. We cried out to God. It is no longer a question of if, it is just a question of when. For the past 6 weeks or so, my family has watched a miracle before our very eyes. We watched as Christ our Healer put His glory on display. Praise His name! |
