That is an excellent analogy!  Unfortunately, the biggest stumbling block for most of us is our own ego.  If that mother were to walk onto that lawn and take those free towels she would basically be telling the entire neighborhood that she needed those towels.  What would the neighbors think?  Couldn’t she afford to buy towels at the store like the rest of us?  The parallels scream out at me!  It’s sad what we do to ourselves because of our ego.

You make a really good point with this story. I was kind of pulled in by the begining and it helped to answer some of my concerns really. I know that this was about accepting our christ without having to pay any price but I have actually been thinking about leaving myspace for good as well since my spirituality has started growing.

Another thing that I had been wondering about because my husband and I just started to read our devotionals in the last two months was "what am I going to do when we finish the bible?" Getting a devotional book or another book on spiritualism would be a great way to keep up with our spiritualism for years to come.

Thanks for posting this because it is an eye opener for a lot of other things. Nice job.

True, Karen.  I got in an arguement online once with someone I thought was a friend until they found out I was a Christian and they said that Christians are closed minded and bigoted because they think only people who believe what they believe will get into Heaven.  He said it wasn't right that we excluded Jews, for instance, from Heaven.  A perfectly nice person doesn't go to Hell, he told me.  All I could say back was, "Heaven is open to anyone.  You just have to accept the gift of Christ's sacrifice.  It's the easiest thing in the world."  We never spoke again after that day.  I found it very sad.

Salvation is a free gift.  I just wish more people could see it that way.
