Hi Doyle!

You gave us quite a lot to think about in this fallen world in which we live!  As believers, we must always put Jesus first, no matter what we have done and trust the Lord with the consequences as Paul had to do.  Good job getting your thoughts across here!

Hi Doyle!  I love this.  We sure think of different priorities when we hire staff for a church don't we?  This is a good reminder to make sure we are thinking with God's perspective and not the world;s.  It is interesting that we can justify that we would not want to have Paul as our pastor since he couldn't hold down a job or was a former persecuter of the believers.  It isn't that we shouldn't be careful of past problems, but we put our trust in those things too much sometimes.

Thanks for the good reminder.   Brent

I agree, Doyle, that the prayer must go before we go. Amen. No other way for God's children. If I were conducting the interview, the most important thing for me would be to pray together with that person (you can learn so much about him/her through his/her prayers) and talk about God, not the criminal history. Maybe I'm too naiive, but first of all, I'm looking for an obedient vessel through whom the whole church will be blessed. Thanks for bringing this up! God bless you! Valya

Great Blog

I right now looking for a part time Job & I ask my God to order my steps, and to direct my path.
I have know people with degress and master & Doctrines apply for a job and did not get it for one reason or another, then some comes along with just job expericence and the faith of her God and just a high school diplama and get the Job, yes Lord go before me and make the those crooked path straight, Amen

My husband is seeking work.  I pray for everyone looking for work, and for God to lead them to the right job

I don't think I'd give that man a job as a pastor.  He's far too valuable as a tent-maker and church-starter to waste his time on pastoring.

Thank you Doyle, I absolutely love Paul and all you say is true. I often get pre-judged on account of my tattoos. I was a silly teenager and marked my skin and I still pay for the mistake today. I am no longer that person but I am judged as if I was. My resume for a Pastoral position would not even be considered but I still preach the Gospel of Jesus Hallelujah and no man will stop that, Amen. Stu

Wow,great blog.Really got the wheels turning in my mind. You are sooo right many times we pray after the fact, almost expecting God to bless our endeavors &  we never really bothered to ask God if we should be should be embarking on this thing in teh first place. We wonder why things go amiss & we cry out to God when it crashes & burns. If we'd have prayed & listened in teh first place  things could  have turned out  much different.I hope I'd  listen to the Holy Spirit saying look through my eyes and hire him despite the track record.

GREAT idea for a blog bro!!!  So true... so true... the following scripture comes to mind:

1:27
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

Doyle... if I may be so bold as to offer the following for Stuart Pic and those who may need to see this link:  http://www.art4god.com/html/?go=product&id=nan  Please consider checking out the art called No appointment Necessary.  In it Jesus has a tatoo which has the Father's name on in a heart.  The following is an excerpt from the above link.  Although I do not have a tatoo I was led to get Bookmarks of it and give it away to people who still felt condemned for their past choices... in hopes of reminding them:
8:1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

EXCERPT:
No Appointment Necessary - Jesus Art

NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY
John 8:15
"You judge according to the flesh, I judge no man."

The tattoo is as old as Cain. In Jesus' time, condemned criminals were tattooed. Tattoos have marked those set apart or condemned as recently as World War II when our Jewish brethren perished.

In the last few centuries tattoos have become more of an art form dedicated to some person or ideal.

"Mom" was the most famous tattoo in history. It seems obvious that if Jesus were to shock the status quo in the 21st Century with a tattoo that it would say "Father".

We should be quick to love and slow to judge, Anxious to forgive and repulsed by self-pity, Curious to understand and cautious to resent. There is no box in which we can place Jesus merely by his appearance. As we do good to others, let us not reserve our kindness only for those who look "safe" or "beautiful". However alarmed we might be at another person's appearance that is our problem. Tragically we too often make it the other person's problem as well.

"No Appointment Necessary" is dedicated and conceived in honor of those children of God who do not appear to "fit in". Shall we remember the tragedies that befall those whose outer shell does not conform to the rules of the various clubs created by men and women?

Man, I like it a lot. Kudos. And I agree, the footwork of Paul says more than any words on a resume could say.

Thanks Doyle...had me thinking.  I like what Gene said....
I don't think I'd give that man a job as a pastor.  He's far too valuable as a tent-maker and church-starter to waste his time on pastoring.
My first reaction is trash it, As I was  a manager once. My second reaction was get to know the person before u throw itout. I have been given many chances at life and jobs.
Thanks for the great read.

Will have to go read tha chapter again.

Have a Blessed day
