I found this movie in my 'Movies You'll Love" tab of Netflix. Up until then I hadn't been too impressed with the suggestions we've been getting (we joined after our move). I was however pleasantly surprised with this one called Once.
Once is about an Irish busker (a street musician) who meets a Czech pianist on the streets of Dublin and they click instantly and start collaborating on songs. They're both in awkward and lonely places in their lives just having had their hearts broken in previous relationships and as their friendship blossoms so does the beautiful and heart-wrenching music they make. I love good music.
The narrative is raw and this low-budget film has a very simple and personable style which was refreshing for me. But note this isn't for kids, as it is rated R for language. (sorry kiddies :)
My husband and I just saw this movie last week. It is very good and the music is really good. One of the songs they do near the end is in 5/4 timing which shows the incredible talent of these musicians. If you like music you should see this one. Christine
