12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, `divers' kinds of tongues.
There was also in the Church a distinct order of prophets (1 Cor. 12:28 above); who made new revelations from God. They differed from the "teacher," whose office it was to impart truths already revealed.
