I must admit that blogging is all new to me. I'm not really sure what proper blogging ediquette is. Mainly I'm hoping to brainstorm some ideas that float around in my head and hear from others who agree (or disagree and can help me understand better).
These days I'm wondering a lot about what it means to be a Christian. I come from a strongly evangelical background that puts a tremendous amount of emphasis on becoming a Christian but not so much on being one.
I call it transactional faith verses transformational faith.
The faith I grew up with was all about the transaction. Say the prayer. Accept God's forgiveness. Get your ticket to heaven. But the longer I walk with Christ the more I discover that it is more about the transformation. When Jesus said "For God so loved the world" could it be that he actually meant the world and not just individuals in the world? Could it be that God is more interested in the transformation of the world than he is in just saving a few people out of it? |
