We need to have Christians in every career and area (within our moral boundaries).  Some ppl find it hard to believe there are Christian politicians...but there are, they are just few and far inbetween in North America.  May God bless your ministry, which is your job!  :)

P.S. I use the internet to my--or rather--God's advantage.  Good way to share Jesus with ppl you wouldn't otherwise talk to!

I think that God gifts us with different creative talents to bring the ministries He's given us out into the world to reach the lost.  Using your gifts for ministry is an honor to God.  May He bless your ministry!

I agree 100% with you on your post. Let me inspire once more, or be used to inspire.....

After a some time and reflection......through Gods Word

I believed God wanted to change my career.

At the time I was working for the University of Tennessee ( UT ) as a "Senior Carpenter. I had climbed the ladder of success with promotions and raises during these 15 years. I enjoyed the job, working with architects, field crews were fun and challenging for someone that hired in as a laborer that could not read a measuring tape.

To keep things fresh UT decided to move me out of the cabinet shop into one of the field crews that remodel the doctors offices and patient areas at UT. After 2 yrs of this "I" transferred into the maintenance dept., something new for me. But once again as time progressed I noticed I was becoming bored again with my duties. "The Reason" for my job hopping.  I was experiencing burned out in my career.

After some time and reflection......through Gods Word

And through this process God had my attention. I believe he had something new for me to do. Through his Word I started to exercise this thought. I was excited once again about new possibilities. God has said through his Word he has given me certain talents and abilities. I was given these talents and abilities at birth. I have always had them, but through my choices over the years my awareness of them became dull. But God was using my current job situation to get my attention.

Not through several attempt but a hand full I started to to discover things I liked to do. Things that interested me.

I asked a local graphic designer if I could job shadow him and he agreed. Over several months of job shadowing with him i came to the conclusion..... this career really interested me.

Next....

I signed up to get my real estate licenses and was successful. I pursued a career in real estate part time while working at UT. Was listing more homes than selling, listing homes does not pay the bills. One night as I listening to some one speak about Gods will for your life he made a statement, that made me sit up and take attention. "If what you are doing is not working out maybe God is not in it, go back to the last thing you were doing".

The next week the local real estate association had included in their news letter a article that detailed how you could put your licenses in retirement along with the form to assist in this idea. That was in 2001 and my licenses is still in retirement today.

So I refocused my efforts back to graphic design and started job shadowing again. But this time I knew this was the area that God wanted me to focus on.

After some time and reflection......through Gods Word

This idea or as I called it...this thing was growing. Through the story of Exodus God was speaking to me. I seen how my life ran parallel to the children of Israel's life. They were in slavery and it looked hopeless and all I had every known as a life, was this career that I had pursued for 15 yrs. I felt I was stuck. But this idea or thought that God was using to inspire me was giving me hope, that there was more to life than what I could see.

After several weeks of trying to meet with a close friend of mine...to share all my thoughts with, to bounce ideas off of. He knows me in detail ( my christian life and my life before christ). He sat and listen to me share all these thoughts and ideas in relation to what I thought God was wanted me to do. With him I do not have to back track to caught him up on things.

After several long minutes of me ranting, reading scripture and just getting
releasing all this pent-up energy. He said " Since you have been sharing, the scripture with Mary comes to mind ( Luke 1:38). You know God has planted this idea inside you, you feel it and believe it is real. You just do not know how it will happen. That is what I needed to hear....

I knew what I had to do.....

Jenily wrote, "JUST DO A MIRACLE! And your services will be pack out, instead of using aggressive marketing."  What I've learned is that if you preach the Gospel, your services will be packed.  The idea hails from the "five solas:"  sola gratia, sola fide, sola scriptura, sola Christus, and soli Deo gloria.  The Gospel is sufficient to draw believers and make followers of Christ, and need not rely on laser shows, fog machines, electric guitars, clever slogans, or fancy graphics.  Many places have replaced the full Gospel with these things and I think this attracts the wrong kind of people to the church -- people who may actually be offended if they knew the Gospel.  If you know what I mean.

That said, I'm a graphic artist too and can't help but think that God has given me these talents to serve Him.  Several hundred years ago Christians were the leaders in cultural art (see the Renaissance).  This is how it should be.

Jenily wrote, "But the devil is a loser"  LOL  He's a total square!  Love this!  Can I quote you?  :D

Great blog Jenily.                        I heard of a preacher who said that if you get someone to come to your church, by giving him a hot dog....... a hamburger will get him to go to the church down the street.              I'm for hot dogs and hamburgers !    After that must come "the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ !  When they stay because of Jesus, and their love for Him, we've done something lasting !    I LOVE THE GOSPEL, especially with SIGNS FOLLOWING !!!!!!!!!!
