Loren - my heart goes out to you and yours my brother.  You all are definitely in my prayers today and always.  I often ask the question of the Lord:  What are You teaching me Lord or simply why me?!  It has been a tough start to '08 for us as well and what has kept me encouraged is the following message that I have on a 3X5 card that I look at everyday.  It reads:

"I am not moved by what I see, I am only moved by what I believe".

I believe the Word and believe it when It tells me in Deuteronomy 28 that "obey the LORD your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.

2"All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the LORD your God.

When you have done all 'you' can do to stand Loren - Stand!

The Lord your God is in your midst,

A victorious warrior.

He will exult over you with joy,

He will be quiet in His love,

He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

Zephaniah 3:17

God is with you, Loren, and God is for you!  I'm praying for you and your family.  Love ya, brother!

I'm taking the time to encorage a GOOD friend! When i feel bad and discourage I have trained myself to get back to the really..THE WORD! In the instant that you set as a reality your circunstances, you are out of focus...THAT'S NOT YOUR REALITY....whatever God says, whatever He promises, that's our true reality. Is normal that we feel discorage sometimes, but what a wonderful blessings is His word and also this channel (mychurch) where we can gather and pray for each other!

LorenDP...One suggetion...PRAISE. When we praise God, we are acknowledging that it is not our own efforts that produce blessings and prosperity. In Deuteronomy, chapters 7 and 8, the children of Israel are told to remember to thank God for the abundance they will receive. God, not their own efforts, gave them wealth. Praise makes us humble.

Thanksgiving is also a way to abound in faith. Any time we operate in a high degree of faith, praise is present. Colossians 2:6-7 says, "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving." When you are believing God for something and it is completed, praise is a natural response. What some people often neglect is that they can increase their faith with praise, and their answers will come more quickly.

By focusing on your problems instead of praising God, you become self-centered and prideful. Praise forces you to get your attention on God and off your problems. Some people say that they are praying, but they are so focused on their problems that they are actually complaining. If you focus on the Word of God, faith will come. How do you keep from focusing on the problem when you are in pain or have no money? The most important thing you can do is praise God.

Praise will build you up spiritually and keep you from crumbling, "for the joy of the LORD is your strength" (Neh. 8:10).

Thanks for thaking the time to share your struggles with us. I shall certainly be praying for you. The book of Job would be a good book to read. Although it doesn't give us a clear answer as to why we suffer, it does show us that God is in total control of what is happening and to fear him is wisdom.

I'm reading Job right now.  :-)  Just finished Ecclesiastes.  Love 'em both.  When I'm discouraged, I like to spend a lot of time in Psalms for encouragement.  Great stuff!
