| Thankfulness and the rain |

Can you believe all this rain!? I'm so happy the weekend is here. Nothing better than being home on a rainy morning! The rain has been making me really count my blessings. I found that my prayers were extra long this morning in thankfulness. As much as we complain about this rain and the traffic, the wetness, the cold...I mean, we're so fortunate. The abundance of rain is going to soak into the ground and water my bulbs that are sleeping so I can have these amazing daffodils, nasturiums, aliums....It's going to water my new fig and pomegranate trees. YAY. And it's going to water all our California crops that are going to feed people. It's worth the inconvenience, isn't it?
After our homeless outreach, my heart is going out to the people that we meet monthly on the streets. I worry about them. Where are they in this rain? I hope they've found shelter. I hope our umbrellas and ponchos help them a little. May God help us to help them.
We're so blessed. We've got roofs over our heads, warm clothing, beds to sleep in. Kitchens that have hot coffee...and food. We've got families and friends that love us and are there for us. We've got the means to get around. We've got the ability to speak...to express ourselves. Most of the time we're healthy. We can read. We have access to technology. I mean, it's endless, y'know. We're just soooo fortunate. God has really blessed us.
I love the rain for this reason. It makes me stop...it makes life a little less rushed. We can be a little more careful...and think a little bit more about our lives and living it with purpose under God's umbrella. |
