| 4 those with 12 step roots. |
|
| |
This aint a quick read but for those who have cut there theeth on one 12 step fellowship or another. Perhaps for those that have had sponsors like me that have downplayed the need to be Born again. When AA started they had unprecedented success in helping those who were willing to totally surrender to get and stay sober. Who knows what's happened over the years.
Could it be that we tried to stuff Christ in the closet. fearing that we would scare off the new comer??? But at some point we all have to come to that crossroad. Are we gonna continue to do things our way?
Could it be that we are a stubborn lot. wanting freedom from the worst part of our addiction's but still wanting to surrender on our own terms?
6:16 Thus says the LORD: "Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk in it.' I recommend this for all those who have wondered how we got so far off track.
Love and Blessings,
David |

good read Dave, thanks. Alwasy wanting it my way!! I'll do just sooo much lol Life is so much easier with Him in charge. I am off in a bit to go up north Jersey to celebrate 9 years of sobriety I havent been to a meeting in a while now. Since I moved in Aug. it is so hard getting back into it. I know I will go, planning to go tonight infact with a friend who is celebrating 2 years. Is it just pure lazyness? or is it doing it my way ?? ahaaaaa!!! lol I was soo involved up north Jersey. Feels nice to breath. AND I am back at church now and hope to get involved there. We have a place here called America's Keswick they have a Christian based Addiction center for men as well as women & family. I have seen through my church people who have completed the process there and living free through Jesus Christ thier Lord & Saviour. So my point is I feel today, if you are ready to surrender and honestly ready to change then what ever works, works. I am doing the study they have online. if you have a chance check it out. OK I babbled on here long enough, you would think I was writing a blog LOL Have a Blessed day and thanks, I love Dick B.s stuff and I met him at the NJ Area Convention. Peace*Blessings*Love Donna |

Dave I love your compassion, and zeal for the programs that you are involved in, You have such a knowledge and a thirst for God that I know can help a-lot of people, Me having been in those programs before "TO No avail" have always believed that Christ was and is the only way! with that said and you being in that field, Have you ever thought of starting or promoting a Christian Group for Addiction and the like? I only ask because i think you would be great at it, and you have the experience to back yo up, not a book but you have THE book! I know that there are programs already erected and moving forward, But you dave have a gift and the thirst to go for it and see many saved and set free, "NOT 12 Steeps!" But Jesus rest. |

Well here in Terre Haute we have a couple of 12 step groups that are Christ centered . AA started out as an off shoot of something called the 1st century Christian Fellowship, otherwise know as the Oxford Group. Your right Keith. Currently I feel I'm called to be submerged in Christ. Someday I may be back at meetings which are ripe for the harvest. Currently I'm seeking direction of the Holy Spirit.
DS I think your right Dianne, I think we have to be firmly rooted in Christ, atherwise it's easy to be conned into making up a God of our own Understanding. A God which may say something like just don't Drink or Use, but you can deal with Sex however feels Good. Jesus wants full surrender.
Blessings, Dave. |

| It seems like A.A.(at least where I live--a University town) wants to have less and less to do with God, period, let alone proclaiming Christ. They want to substitute the Big Book for the Bible--one reason I haven't been to meetings too much anymore. |

Suzanne I feel very much like you Celebrated recovery and the "Came to believe" groups are very christ centered. Dennis - the twelve step programs sprang from the First Century Christian Fellowship otherwise known as the Oxford Group. This book is not what you would call AA conference aproved literature. recomend checking it out if you want to call yourself an expert. Personally I was called to serve Jesus Christ and him crucified. Part of that calling means reaching out to people without judging them. Of course I myself struggle with judging people.
Also thanks for your input Keith and Diane. Currently I don't attend NA or AA. Because I know whose I am. |
